    Introduction

At the beginning I would like to emphasize the importance of the Great Britain

and the political attitude in the European policy making process, in the past but in

    nowadays politic too.

Starting from the reign of the Queen Victoria, Great Britain, is more and more

powerful player in Europe. The politic of splendid isolation is very important fact,

but what is more interesting, but without concrete academic background is the Royal

blood connection between European Royal Families.

It is obvious that media in Europe, give to the public very pour informations

about this, but nothing scientifically approved.

That is the reason why I choose this mysterious, in some way, elaboration, and

I will try to explain with data that there is a blood connection between the Royal

Families in Europe, powered by the Queen Victoria, and her plan for United Europe.

My work will be shared in two parts.

In the first part, I will expose the blood connections of the British Royal family

starting from the Queen Victoria to present, with other Royal Families cross Europe,

and the Balkan countries, those who are now members of the EU.

In the second part, I will adduce the influence and the idea of these blood

connections between the Royal Families in Europe, and the influence, the idea for the

    creation of the European Union.

Part I British Royal House and blood connections

Great Britain is one of the few Parliamentary Monarchy, part of the European

    Union.1

House of Windsoris the current Royal House of the Commonwealth realms. It

is a branch of the German House of Saxe - Coburg and Gotha,(German: Sachsen -

Coburg und Gotha), which adopted the English name Windsor by a royal

proclamation on the 17 July 1917.

The most prominent member of the House of Windsor is Elizabeth II, the

reigning monarch over the Commonwealth realms. However, the head of the House of

Windsor (is Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, as the senior male-line descendant of

King George V, who founded the house by changing its name from Saxe-Coburg-

    Gotha to Windsor.

Going back to the past, I will start at the reign of the Queen Victoria.

The name Saxe-Coburg-Gotha came to the British Royal Family in 1840 with

the marriage of Queen Victoria to Prince Albert, son of Ernst, Duke of Saxe-Coburg& Gotha. The name Saxe-Coburg-Gotha also survived in other European monarchies, including the current Belgian Royal Family and the former monarchies of Portugal

    and Bulgaria.1

From these we can ask our self how the Royal name Saxe Coburg Gotha

could reached in the other European Countries, all of them part of the todays

    European Union.

    Resume of the Part I

HM Queen Victoria did not implemented a new system of blood

    connection.

What she did is that she used the status of Great Britain, to enforce the

blood connection by marriages, to strength the status of Great Britain, but also

make elite, European elite that will reign in Europe, together, without wars, but

in peace, something that is very important for Britain. For these I will expose in

    the second part.

Data bases presented ahead implement the real number, and surely

present historical facts that are known till now days. Facts that are still very

carefully observed by the scientist, and especially the media.

BBC, in 2006 made reportage of the Golden Jubilee named:

    The Euro Royal connection

As Europe's monarchs gather at Windsor Castle to celebrate 50 years of the

Queen's reign, BBC News Online looks at the relationship between the Royal families.

The Queen remains close to her

    European relatives

A glittering night of European monarchs celebrating the Queen's Golden

Jubilee will not simply be a formal regal affair.

As well as the pomp and ceremony many of the guests share blood ties, constitutional and historical similarities and modern day crises with the Queen.

Among the Royal Who's Who of Europe will be at least four of the Queen's

    distant cousins.

Several are direct descendants of Queen Victoria, including Danish Queen

Margrethe, Norway's King Harald and Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf.

Another direct descendent is prince Ernst August of Hanover who, had

Britain operated a men-only law of succession, could have been sitting on the

    throne in Buckingham Palace today.

The Queen has also invited King Albert of Belgium,

Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands King Carl VII Gustaf of

Sweden and King Juan Carlos of Spain.

The long standing relationship between the Queen

and her European counterparts began in childhood.

In modern times, the Queen is the longest serving

monarch and as such she is regarded as the senior member of

    the group.

But there is much in common between some of the royals

which share the same robust and traditional monarchy as Britain - such as the Swedes

    and the Danes.

Queen Margrethe and the Queen, 14 years her senior, still address each other in

public as "your majesty" despite being cousins, but in private they are close friends.

Part II The Great plan of Britain for United EuropeStarting with short deep historical review, recruited with the memoirs of the

great political and diplomacy historians, I will explain the Great plan of Britain, and

before all, the strategy of the Queen Victoria, for United and peaceful Europe,

    connected and economically strength Europe.

With power and money, English early colonization expanded. Spain has lost

sea predominance. Britain became one of the most powerful countries, which enabled

    further colonization by Great Britain21

Because of the power, and treasure that England had, it policy was splendid

    isolation

That roll England kept because of the clear geo political situation. The

rebellion of the relatively small European island, would be threaten, when all

European resources could be mobilized by only one sovereign, with the fact that

England (with Scotland in 1707), would possess a very few resources and habitants,

so sooner or later could be affected by some of the continental imperials.22

At the beginning of the XX-th

century, Great Britain, military ad hoc technique

of defense by the power balance, converted in a profound plan23

Now we can see that time line period of the reign of Queen Victoria matches

with the purpose plan for strong Britain, and peaceful Europe.

According to the British idea for the world order, the check of the power

balance was ability of a several countries to play the roll which would be assigned in

the frame of the overall plan.24

    14/18

In advocacy to the Great Britains plan for Unified Europe, is the fact that,

British monarchs, especially Queen Victoria, were accomplishing the mission for

increasing the number of alliances with more monarchies as possible.

Numerous British ad hoc alliances surely had own purposes which were

connected with the increase of the influence or the territory cross Europe25

But, what is very important and scientist across the world agree is that Queen

Victoria, made not just paper - signed alliances, but what is really more important,

blood connected alliances, by marriages!!! In the first part I exposed data about some

of the most important blood connections that Queen Victoria and her descendents

effectuated. Some may not agree with the importance that monarchs had, but the facts

says that, actually monarchs played the main role in the political decision making

    process.

In Britain, governments were changing more rapidly than the governments on

the east castles When would determined the course, Britain would follow with

    steel persistence.26

It is useful to say a few words about the Balkan and the connections with the

British royal House of Saxe Cobourg und Gotha. With an attention to Greece,

Bulgaria, and Romania (which are members of the European Union).

Greece, during the Ottoman Empire had some status that gave it later easierautonomy and membership in European Union, thankfully to the alliances with

the European countries that had huge influence.

During the first part of Othonss reign the three political parties of the

revolutionary period The French, The Russian, and the British dominated the

    political scene.27

    25Ibid

    26Ibid

  • 8/6/2019 Roots of the Europe

    15/18

The major implement to the popularity of this group was the British desire to

uphold the Ottoman Empire, a policy that precluded aid to Greece expansion.28

The Greek leaders themselves would have preferred Prince Albert, the second

son of Queen Victoria, as their king.29

The connections and the purpose are very clear and without doubt. Although,

Prince Albert didnt became King of Greece, there were marriages between this two

families, and the situation is that, The consort of the present Queen Elizabeth II, Duke

Philip of Edinburgh, before the marriage, renounced his Greek and Danish titles,

converted from Greek Orthodoxy to Anglicanism.

Situation with Bulgaria is very well known, with the King Simeon II SaxeCobourg Gotha.

Simeon II, although is ex- King of the Bulgarian, ten years ago went back to

Bulgaria, trying to restart his political activities.

The 2001 parliamentary elections were won by the newly-formed NDST, the

party vehicle for the former monarch Simeon II (Simeon Saxe Coburg Gotha), who

had returned to Bulgaria following a life of exile in Spain. The ex-Kings campaign

focused on anti-corruption and pro-reform themes. Initially extremely popular, the

NDST governed in a coalition with a smaller Turkish-minority party.30

Also very important to say is the British favor to Bulgaria because of the fact:

Britains chief position included the division of the large Bulgarian state.31

Now it is more clear and also affricated the fact why Britain worked on the

    field with Bulgaria too.

Romania is also very interesting case. In the period when Romania was on across road, Britains were in a doubt to take or to refuse another big part in

    their agendaRomania.

The British government waved between the two positions (for or against)

united Romanian state, related to its policy (meaning of British policy)32

ResumeTodays Europe Union, is the outcome of the long term work. There are few

dates that symbolize the official unification of Europe.

But, if we try to go deeper with our research, we will see that, actually the basic

figure is the Queen Victoria, and her political agenda, that almost all of her

descendents realized and accepted as proper. And that would be blood connection

between the Royal families (in that period figures that had the political power in their

hands), which should be implemented by marriages between Royal Houses.

I would like to finish with a short resume ofQueens Victoria biography which

reflexes my thesis for the Royal blood connections in Europe, and its influence in the

process of Uniting Europe in the European Union of Countries.

    Victoria (Alexandrina Victoria; 24 May 1819 - 22 January 1901) was the

Queen regnant of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June

1837, and the first Empress of India of the British Raj from 1 May 1876, until her

    death.

At 63 years and 7 months, her reign as the Queen lasted longer than that of any

other British monarch, and is the longest of any female monarch in history. Her reign

    32Ibid

is known as the Victorian era, and was a period of industrial, cultural, political,

scientific, and militaryprogress within the United Kingdom.

Victoria inherited the throne at the age of 18 after her father's three elder

brothers died without surviving legitimate issue. She ascended the throne when the

United Kingdom was already an established constitutional monarchy, in which the

king or queen held relatively few direct political powers and exercised influence by

the prime minister's advice; but she served as an important symbolic figure.

Her reign was marked by a great expansion of the British Empire, which

reached its zenith and became the foremost global power. Her 9 children and 42

grandchildren married into royal families across the continent, tying them together

    and earning her the nickname

    "The grandmother of Europe".33
