Bus Shelter
Public transportation shelter able to adapt to the clients specifications
The Lafayette MPO approached 3 of the Industrial Design Students to redesign the existing public transportation bus stop/shelter. They wanted something visually appealing, cheap, and easy to build.
The existing bus shelters that the city has previously purchased cost approximately $4,000-$6,000. We were able to almost cut that price in half; to $2,700.
They then wanted a quick turn-around to manufacture it. We then had to create construction documents on how to build our shelter. We met/worked a with structural engineer to make sure it could with-stand Hurricane force winds that can be frequent in Louisiana.
