President Deepak presented an overview of the Board’s first 100 days in office, which started two days earlier at the Installation Dinner held at Shangri-la Hotel on Saturday, 29 June 2019. He noted the Board’s was about teamwork and camaraderie. He cited the changes which were made for the Club and Service Committee meetings at the start of the Rotary year with the meetings held in the evenings at the Grand Hyatt Singapore. He advised that the food was curated with love by Hon. Secretary Shamin Vaswani. President Deepak further thanked Programmes Chair, Rtn Joseph Chia for the wind range of informative talks each week, with a full schedule up to February 2020! He added that the average attendance at weekly meetings was a total of 46, inclusive of 34 Rotarian attendances. Next, President Deepak showed video clips of Board Members sharing their feelings and opinions on the 100 days so far and highlighted some of the projects undertaken. He spoke of the smiles which PP Mansoor Hassanbhai brought to the residents of the Society for the Aged Sick when he gave them mementos of the River Safari outing. He spoke of the dedication of Board members such as Rtn Mamta Shahani, International Service Director, who believes in
friendships with other clubs and drove alone to Rotary Club of Muar to attend its installation. He noted that the Board believe that Rotary complements family and not competes with it, and thanked Rotary Spirit Director Rtns Rajkumar and Shamin for organizing healthy events with family participation. He took the opportunity to thank the IshK Tolaram Foundation for its support of the Board with a Service Committee Discretionary Fund which would donate US$5,000 to each committee for education/humanitarian projects. On Membership, President Deepak highlighted that little touches would be implemented to enhance membership – such as Birthday vouchers for free coffee at APSN Café. Also, reminder cards to members to attend meetings, which were designed by students from the Canossian School. He noted the outreach in Public Relations with increased likes and follows on Facebook and circulation of the Club’s bulletin, CrossRoads. Treasurer “Mali” Malaiappan, VP Bala Venkatesan, PPs Peter Tan, Keith Harrison and Rtn Horst Hagemann, as well as his “President’s Core” namely Vice Presidents See Mee Lee and Bala. The Guide to Daily Living
Before doing the things we want to do, consider first, the
Precepts of the guide. Ask ourselves these 4 questions and
act upon them:
First: Have I spent some time in self-examination?
Second: Have I spent quality time with my family?
Third: Have I given my best to my work?
Fourth: Have I given some time to someone near and far?
The Guide, in fact, encompasses the 4 parts of the Object of Rotary.
The Four-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendship?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
