Rotary at work in the Community
On Saturday July 30th, 2011 Rotary Club of Barbados partnered with the youth in the community. The “Rewired Camp International ” sponsored by the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and the Living Room Church St. Phillip conducted a camp which attracted some 20 overseas campers ages 11- 21 and a similar number of local campers.
Rotarian Ronald Williams and Director of Community Services Willie Kirton coordinated a project as part of the ongoing work which The Rotary Club of Barbados has been doing at the Evalina Children’s Home and the St. Phillip District Hospital. The project with the Campers involved the refurbishing of murals in the children’s sleeping and meeting areas, building a new ramp to assist in the use of wheel chairs and the planting of three mature palms in an area being considered as a play park for the kids.
Here the Campers are working in refurbishing a large mural at the Entrance of the of the District Hospital. The Campers also spent time with the residents of the Home. It was a heartwarming afternoon as the campers assisted in feeding the kids, shared stories and sang with the residents.

Also as part of the ongoing work Rotary is doing at the Evalina Children’s home, Director Willie Kirton is in the process of refurbishing some of the electrical equipment and furniture at the Home. We are also looking into to the feasibility of creating a play park area and installing a specialized swing set for the children.
