The Rotherham United Community Sports

Trust and its staff will be host a number of

activities and performances around the

ground as they look to showcase the

excellent work that they do in the local

area.

The match against the Cod Army will also

mark a notable opening for the Community

Sports Trust, who will launch their new

FanZone trailer, with Dion Leffley on hand

to host as it goes live for the first time at

AESSEAL New York Stadium with live bands

and artists performing ahead of kick off.

Some of the club’s past and present players

will take to the stage at the launch with

supporters encouraged to stop by and

check out the new Community trailer as

they make their way into the stadium for

today’s Sky Bet League One fixture.

Fancy your chances at recreating a Will

Vaulks thunderbolt? The Community

Sports Trust will also hold a ‘Speed Shot

Test’ in the grounds at the stadium prior to

the game, so make sure you bring your

shooting boots! Don’t worry though, you

don’t have to test your skills out ahead of

the game, as there are plenty of other

activities taking place with trampolines and

the play bus also in attendance.

As ever, RUCST will open the doors of the

popular Goal Zone at 1pm, where

supporters with a match ticket can enjoy

pre-match entertainment including an

Xbox console, table tennis table, a reaction

wall and indoor games for young fans to

enjoy before the main event of watching

the Millers.

Resident club mascot Miller Bear will be a

presence throughout the day to welcome

supporters young and old and Head of

Community Jamie Noble is looking forward

to an action-packed afternoon at the

Millers’ home.

“We are delighted to host the community

day on 7th of April. It’s a great opportunity

for our team to showcase the fantastic

work they deliver to the local community,”

he told www.themillers.co.uk

“Everyone at the Trust would like to thank

Chairman Tony Stewart and Chief

Operating Officer Paul Douglas for this

opportunity and continued support with

the work we deliver.”

On Sunday 8th April our ability counts

premiership team were crowned

champions of the South Yorkshire Ability

Counts League.

Our title winning campaign started on

Sunday 10th September 2017 with an

impressive 7-1 win over Club Doncaster

Titans and a 4-1 win over Wisewood.

Throughout the season we put in some

great performances to challenge the

toughest teams in the league. The lads

played 10 games this season, scoring 33

goals in total and only losing 2 games.

It all came down to the last two games of

the season, with us and Derek Dooley on

the same points going into the final set of

Page 3: Rotherham United’s fixture against Fleetwood Town at ... › wp-content › uploads › 2018 › 09 › ... · training and matches, all this can be done whilst having fun and keeping

fixtures. We managed to secure a 2-1 win

over Doncaster Communication College

which was a very close game and then it

was all down to the final game of the

season vs City Knights. City Knights had just

won 1-0 against Derek Dooley in the

previous game, which meant we needed to

gain 3 points from City Knights to win the

league on goal difference.

The must win game for Rotherham United

started off very close and the score line

was 0-0 for the first 20 minutes, with the

City Knights keeper pulling off some

impressive saves. It went down to the final

few minutes, where James Hammond

broke through and scored to make it 1-0.

The final whistle went and thanks to James

Hammond’s last minute goal, Rotherham

United were crowned Premiership

champions of the South Yorkshire Ability

Counts League.

We would like to congratulate Mickey

Parkes, Connor Worrall, Keith Parker,

Danny Grubb, Kyle Reid, James Hammond,

Callum Majer, Chris Flanaghan, and Chris

Sanderson for a fantastic season and thank

them for their continued effort in training

and matches.

The G4S Trophy Finals held on April 21st

during the Rotherham Vs Bristol Rovers

match, where Wales Primary and

Rawmarsh Rosehill Primary went head to

head.

The match was very open considering what

was at stake. Both teams clearly wanted to

attack and go for the win.

Rosehill went 1-0 up through a composed

finish when a nice through ball which was

played to their striker.

Wales Primary swiftly equalised with a

fantastic strike through their goalkeeper

when he launched the ball forward which

ultimately ended up in the net.

Rosehill Primary’s Goalkeeper pulled off

some fantastic saves throughout the game

to keep their hopes of winning the title

alive.

Wales Primary managed to go a goal ahead

which relived the pressure. This enabled

them to play some quality football and

score another 2 goals.

Rosehill fought hard and played with class

however couldn’t quite manage to score

again.

Wales clinched the trophy with a 4-1

victory and became the first team to retain

the trophy.

to their school.
