It is hard to believe that half of our year is already gone and the holidays are now upon us. At the start of our year, we had a great strategic planning session to help guide us for the next three years. It showed us things we need to improve on, some long term goals to think about and also pointed out things that we were already doing correctly. More impor- tantly, it helped us focus on our vision of where we want the chamber to be in the future. The first half of the year saw a conversion to a new accounting system that makes us more accountable and allows us better planning. We streamlined and automated our event registration and payment process to make it easier for our members. We have given the staff better tools to better consistently perform their jobs including job descriptions and employee manuals. The chamber is in the process of forming the new Women In Business group lead by Dianne Lemmons that focuses on growing our women professionals in Rowlett. The decision was made to bring back our casino night again and the event has been branded as the Rowlett Stampede. Diane and her team have been extremely busy and are well ahead of schedule in achieving our goals set forth by a very aggressive timeline for the 2011-2012 year. We could not be more proud of the hard work they have done. The next six months will see a focus on growing our membership and member retention. We must continue to show value to our membership by holding costs down yet being a strong voice for our business community. Along that line, we have already begun to work on new and exciting events that will be economical while bring- ing enjoyment to the community and networking opportunities for our local businesses. We will continue to grow our partnership with our neighboring chambers in certain events. This shows chamber strength to new business prospects and allows us to stay in-tuned to things affecting us in our region. Rowlett is truly blessed with great businesses, great city leadership, a solid chamber and now a great location. Never have I seen such a caring atmosphere as in Rowlett and the Chamber Ambassador’s exude this on a daily basis. They donate so much of their time and effort to make the chamber and Rowlett as a whole, suc- cessful. On behalf of everyone at the chamber and from the bottom of my heart I want to say THANK YOU for all that you do for us in Rowlett. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Diane Lemmons or myself if we can assist you in any way and tell us how we can better serve your business. I want to wish each and everyone a Safe and Happy Holiday Season from your Rowlett Chamber of Commerce. AMBASSADOR OF THE MONTH for OCTOBER

Jason Michaels - Massage Envy Rowlett

The mission of First Rowlett United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world -- they do that by living their life together, learning the faith to-gether and loving others through service. FUMC is warm and inviting and strives to reach people of all ages – children, youth and adults. The task of their church is to point the way to a rela-

tionship with Jesus Christ in all that they do. They invite and welcome new people, involve them in the life of their church and actively serve needs in the community. They believe the community should be better because the church is there.

Jan Davis, Pastor of First Rowlett United Methodist Church accepted the Business/Organization of the Month award for the month of November at the Chamber’s November Membership Luncheon.
