  • Wow word of the week Are you the WOW word of the Week Champion?

Every week in the newsletter there will be an interesting or unusual wow word written with its meaning from

    the dictionary.

Can you put that word in an amazing sentence? If so, write it on a piece of paper, include your name and grade

    and pop it in

the box in the office. If your sentence is the most impressive, then you will feature on our WOW writer

champion board displayed in the foyer of the office. Winner announced each week at assembly.

    Happy writing! Lisa EL

    This weeks word below!

    LAST WEEK’S Wow WINNERS

When I bought my new expensive house it was not too shabby. The rooms were

cleaner than the White House. The windows were shinning and the house smelt

    like a precious, beautiful perfume.

    Ali

One dark evening I drove past an old shabby haunted house. I had a shiver

down my spine and I was paralysed with fear. I saw a masked figure that

glared down at me with its eyes that penetrated souls. I sped away as fast as

    lightening.

    Eric 6B

As I walked through the secret passage way it looked very shabby. Everyone

was forbidden to go there so I just went in as though it was a murderous

situation. A sharp shiver went down my nerves. It looked like a dead alley.

    Marlize & Malevia 4B

    ENRAPTURE – a feeling of

    intense joy.

  • Wow WINNERs CONTINUED……

There I was at the park playing wonderfully with my friends. As I was playing I

heard a bark. I was getting closer to the disturbing noise. “Aww poor thing”. I

see a shabby, old and dirty dog. I took the poor thing to my house and washed

    him.

    Latrell 6D

Despite my efforts to persuade my mother to sell our new, shabby, tattered

car, she refused and said “ Do you know how much money a new car is?. Your

father and I work hard to put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads

and here you are, you loathsome, unappreciative slob, asking for a new car”.

    Eloise and Rania 4B

Congratulations to the Mathletics classes of the

Congratulations to the Mathletics classes of the week

    Gold - 4C Silver – 5C Bronze- 4A

    Week ending 10th March 2017

Keep up the great work and keep trying to get a GOLD certificate to join in our special lunch at the end of the term!

    Maths Game of the week!

    High Card – Addition

A game suitable for students from Prep to

    Year 6.

Two students place a deck of cards in front

    of them face down.

Remove the Kings, Jacks, and Jokers. The

Ace represents the number one and the

Queen represents a zero. All other cards

    are face value.

Chn share out all the cards and place their

cards in front of them in one pile.

Player one turns over his/her top two cards

and adds them up ie. 7 and 10 = 17. Player

two then turns over his/her top two cards

hoping to get a higher score than player

one. Whoever has the higher score takes

all 4 cards and places them at the bottom of

their pack. Play continues until teacher says

stop or all cards are used. Player with most

    cards wins.

    Variations

Turn over three cards, Subtract, turn over

three cards and add and subtract between

cards to make greatest total. Make the

    largest two/three digit number, multiply.

  • Dear Families,

On Thursday the 23rd of March, our school will be celebrating

Harmony Day! On this day we celebrate the many different

cultures within our school community. On the day we ask that all

students come to school dressed in their traditional cultural

clothing or in the colour orange. We would also like to ask students

to bring in a dish of food from their culture to share. Please try

to share something that does NOT need refrigeration or heating!

Please make sure you include: a list of ingredients, the name of

the dish and the country of origin of the dish.

There will also be a whole school Aboriginal Incursion run by

Koomurri. The incursion will include Aboriginal dance, song, stories

    and more.

The cost for the day is a Gold Coin Donation!

    Thank you!

  • Hi Parents/Guardians!

As part of upcoming 'Harmony Week' (15th-21st March

2017), the school will be engaged in a project to

transform the very ordinary looking garden bed in Area

One into a beautiful 'Harmony Garden!'

We are asking for any garden gnomes or flower pots you

may have that you no longer need, which could be donated

to the school & added to our special garden!

If you have any, please bring them to the Art Room, it

    would be greatly appreciated!

    Kind regards,

    The Specialist Team
