Step 3. Sew a B strip be-tween two C strips with right sides together along length; press seams toward B strip. Repeat to make three C-B-C strip sets.Step 4. Subcut the C-B-C strip sets into (34) 21/2" C-B-C units as shown in Figure 3.

Step 5. Sew a B-C-B unit between two C-B-C units to make a C unit as shown in Figure 4; repeat to make 17 C units. Press seams toward the B-C-B unit.

Completing the QuiltStep 1. Sew D to E to make a D-E unit as shown in Figure 5; press seam toward E. Trim E even with edge of D using a straightedge, again referring to Figure 5. Repeat to make six D-E units.

Step 2. Sew a G piece to one short side and an H piece to the adjacent short side of F as shown in Figure 6; press seams toward G and

H. Trim G and H pieces even with edge of F using a straightedge, again referring to Figure 6. Repeat to make two F-G-H units and two reverse F-G-H units. Step 3. Arrange and join A squares with B units in diagonal A rows referring to Figure 7; press seams toward B units.

Step 4. Join the C units with B units to make diago-nal C rows, again referring to Figure 7; press seams to-ward B units.

Step 5. Join the A and C rows as stitched and add D-E and F-G-H units to ends and corners to com-plete the pieced center, again referring to Figure 7; press seams toward A rows and D-E and F-G-H units.Step 6. S P E C I A L C U T T I N G I N S T R U C T I O N SStep 1. If main print is directional like the Roy Rogers print used in the sample quilt, cut a 36" x 42" A piece. Cut the A piece into 81/2"-wide diagonal rows as shown in Figure 1; subcut into eight 81/2" x 81/2" A squares. Note: If your fabric requires fussy-cutting the A squares, disregard Figure 1 for cutting, and cut squares from fabric as they will fit.Step 2. If main print is non-directional, cut two 81/2" x 42" strips; subcut into eight 81/2" x 81/2" A squares.

Completing the Framing UnitsStep 1. Sew a C strip be-tween two B strips with right sides together along length; press seams toward B strips. Repeat to make six B-C-B strip sets.Step 2. Subcut B-C-B strip sets into (24) 81/2" B units
