Dear Companions,

To start this new year in Capitular Masonry, please let us thank God for all Hehas blessed us with, and most importantly for letting us live in a place wherewe can belong to this wonderful fraternity.

Next, I would like to take the time to thank all the Companionsmentioned in this letter. All of them have devoted their time to work and servethe Grand Chapter and all its members for the next year. Everyone is knownby their comrades as very hard and dedicated workers.

This year we continue to follow the program started by Past Grand High PriestDon Powell, Tracks We Leave. This program has only done us well, so Ireally hope that more Chapters will make every effort to complete therequirements for the Plague.

The requirements are difficult because they require many members of theChapter to get involved. So please remember, the best way to keep ourmembers is to make every meeting interesting and worth their time.

All of the Area Meetings are listed in this letter. So this means every HighPriest, King, and Scribe should attend their Area Meeting.

I ask every Dais Officer of each Chapter to attend and try to bring along asmany Companions with them as possible.

May we all remember during this next year that we all need to work togetherto make sure we have Capitular Masonry to enjoy in the future.

This means everyone needs to stay devoted, turn off your TV, and attendingand taking part of all the meetings of our Chapters.

Thank you for offering me the chance to serve this year, and I can only hopethat I see many of you at the various events and meetings during this nextyear.

Fraternally,

Gary K. Hunt

I couldn’t have done itwithout you. My year as Grand High Priest has passed quickly, and Iwill always have fond memories of holding this honorable position.Again thanks to each and every one of you, and I hope I havefulfilled my responsibilities and duties this past year.

Summary of Major Programs

This year as I started my year as Grand High Priest, we changed areameetings from Saturdays to a regular stated meeting night, to help inattendance that was a big help.

As I started my year as Grand High Priest the programs I talkedabout in the area meetings, were the Tracks We Leave,Membership, Lodge Presentations, Mentorship, NewMembership Handbook, at each area meeting we talked about eachone of these in a Positive way, I urged each Chapter to get the plaquefrom the Tracks We Leave Program, and we have 1 to receive it thisyear, Greensburg Chapter #36.

I spoke many times about Membership, passed out literature of thelodge presentation, and asked that Companions go to the blue Lodgesand promote York Rite Masonry, that’s were our future membershipfor the York Rite can be found.

I along with other members of the Grand Line have this yearpromoted the Membership Program and asked that when the newCompanions come into the Chapter that they appoint someone to be aMentor to that Companion. This program will develop a moreeducated member while preparing them to assume officer stations inthe future.

I have also promoted New Membership Handbook, which thesecretary fills out as the new Member goes through the degrees, andis given to the Companion when he completes his work. To aid in thistask, I recommended that The New Member Handbook be used toassist these new men in their path. The New Member handbook isalso available online at www.yorkriteky.org under the section ofDownloadable Forms. This information is all available on the York

Membership

Although membership records continue to improve, we still have away to go! Many of our Secretaries have continued to work very hardto get their records up to date. The summary of the statistical table isas follows (NOTE: One Chapter has not submitted its data.):

Members Exalted Admitted Reinstated Dead4399 122 15 17 -94

Suspended Demitted Expelled Adjust Members-235 -67 -7 -34 4116

This makes for a net loss of 283 members.

Eleven Chapters showed a “gain” in membership, and wecongratulate them. They were:

+22 - Somerset Chapter No. 25, Somerset+7 - Frankfort Chapter No. 3, Frankfort+6 - Monticello Chapter No. 152, Monticello+3 - Greensburg Chapter No. 36, Greensburg+3 - Edmonds Chapter No. 83, Lebanon+3 - Scottsville Chapter No. 151, Scottsville+2 - Temple Chapter No. 172, Newport+1 - Shelbyville Chapter No. 2, Shelbyville+1 - Covington Chapter No. 35, Covington+1 - Irvine Chapter No. 42, Irvine+1 - Carroll No. 55, Carrollton

The Grand Secretary’s Trophy is awarded to the chapter with thehighest percent of gain above 10%. Somerset Chapter No. 25 is therecipient of this award with 24%.

Finances

A basic summary of our finances is as follows:$50,604.00 - Income for fiscal year July 1, 2010-June 30,2011$45,116.38 - Expenses for fiscal year July 1, 2010-June 30,2011$ 5,487.62 - Excess of Income over Expenses

I continue to express my belief that we should have a “continuing

43

resolution” to authorize expenditures in July and August prior toadopting a budget in September for the fiscal year of July 1-June 30.

Concerns

We continue to have too many of our Chapters that are not submittingtheir various reports by the deadlines. This delays processing in theoffice and causes extra work. Again this year, I declined to issuefines. This is because the local body usually ends up paying the fine, and the local Chapters don’t have the money to do this. However, theOffice still needs to have the information on time!

The “problem” of producing an annual Proceedings is making greatimprovement thanks to our Office Secretary Rebecca Warth! Wehave produced and have for distribution at this Annual Convocationthe Proceedings for both 2008 and 2009. It is our hope to get caughtup by next year.

We have too many things that get sent to the Office when it would bebetter if they were sent to the person responsible. I will continue towork to see if more things can be handled in another way. Forexample, Nominations for the various Awards should have the samedeadline date and be sent to the appropriate Committee Chairman.Second, By-Laws could be sent to the appropriate Chairman and theCommittee might meet quarterly to review and approve them. At thatpoint, the “approved” item(s) would be sent to the Office for filingand return to the local Chapter.

Finally

I continue to be impressed by the expertise and dedication of so manyChapter Secretaries. Many are computer literate and do anoutstanding job at the local level. Several have contributed both timeand advice to help the office become more “computer friendly” withour reports. To each of you who serve so faithfully, I say a sincereTHANK YOU!

Fraternally,

William G. Hinton, PGHPGrand Secretary
