Spectral Matching of Time History
When using RspMatch it is recommended to adjust the time history in stages over progressively wider frequency bands. We’ll use three passes for this tutorial. The first pass matches the seed time history (i.e., RSN763_LOMAP_GIL067.AT2) over the frequency range of 1.0 – 36.0 Hz. The second pass will match the time history created by the first pass over the frequency range of 0.5 to 36.0 Hz. And the third pass will match for the frequency range of 0.1 to 36.0 Hz. For convenience, we’ll accept the default values for some variables.
36 Hz is the Maximum Usable Frequency for the GIL067 record as obtained from the PEER Flat File (next slide, i.e., maximum frequency equal to 0.8 fLP, after Kotke, 2010). The Lowest Usable Frequency for the record is 0.088 Hz. However, for this tutorial, we will use 0.1 Hz for the lowest frequency as the maximum period of the target spectrum is 10 seconds.
