D i t a A m o r y i s A c t i n g Associate Curator in Charge of the Robert Lehman Collection, having joined their staff in 1996 as Assistant Curator. She previously served as Chief Curator of the National Academy of Design. Following

graduate studies at the Institute of Fine Arts, she was appointed Librarian of the Oak Spring Garden Library, the horticultural collection assembled by Rachel Lambert Mellon. Dita has organized numerous exhibitions highlighting the Lehman Collection, particularly in the area of master drawings. Recently, she curated an exhibition of Pierre Bonnard’s late still life paintings, and is curator of the current exhibition, Madame Cézanne. This unprecedented exhibition brings together Paul Cézanne’s portraits of his lifelong companion and most frequent studio model, Hortense Fiquet. Dita is a longstanding trustee of The Drawing Center in Soho, and the New York Studio School. u

This morning attend a lecture by Dita Amory, followed by a guided walking tour of this lively city. Following lunch, visit the Prado Museum, the Spanish national art museum displaying one of the world largest and finest collections of European art from the 12th to early 19th centuries. Afterwards, stroll through Madrid’s distinctive Royal Botanic Garden, located just south of the Prado, as lecturer Patrick Bowe leads a tour of its secluded landscapes and diverse plant life. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Depart Madrid early and drive to Salamanca’s Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for a morning visit to the Museum of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, housed in Casa Lis, an urban mansion with a sweeping and richly colored stained glass façade. Tour the Convent of St. Stephen, an excellent example of the Plateresque style and where Columbus stayed when defending his idea to the city’s university to sail west to the Indies. After lunch, continue to Vega de Terrón and the awaiting AmaVida. A welcome reception is followed by dinner.

Deviations from the scheduled itinerary are at the expense of the individual. RESPONSIBILITY CLAUSE The participation of the Met is limited to educational sponsorship of the program described in this brochure (The Program). AAA acts only as an agent for the participant with respect to transportation, accommodations and all other services, relating to The Program. AAA, the Met and/or their agents assume no responsibility or liability for any act, error or omission, or for any injury, loss, accident, delay or irregularity which may be occasioned by reason of any defect in any aircraft, ship, train, bus or other carrier, or through neglect or default of any subcon-tractor or other third party, which may be used wholly or in part in the performance of their duty to the participants of The Program. The passage ticket issued by the carrier is the sole contract between the participant and the carrier. Nor will AAA or the Met and/or their agents be responsible for loss, injury, damages or expenses to persons or property, due to illness, weather, strikes, local laws, hostilities, wars, terrorist acts, acts of nature or other such causes in connection with The Program or anything beyond their reasonable control. AAA is not responsible for transportation or other program delays and changes, nor additional expenses or loss of time that may be incurred. In the event it becomes necessary or advisable for the comfort or well-being of the participants, or for any reason whatsoever, to alter the itinerary at any time, without notice to the participants, such alterations will be made without penalty to AAA or the Met. Additional expenses, if any, shall be borne by the participants. Baggage and personal effects are the sole responsibility of the participant at all times. The Met and AAA reserve the right to accept or decline any person as a participant at any time, or to require any participant to withdraw from The Program at their own expense when such an action is determined by AAA or the Met to be in the best interest of the participant’s health and safety, or the general welfare of the other participants. CANCELLATION POLICY AAA must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of The Program, which may include but are not limited to: advance payments to land operators; ship charters; communi-cation expenses; development/promotional expenses and the loss of time that might have permitted resale of reserved space. All cancellations must be made in writing to the offices of AAA and are subject to a $350 non-refundable administrative fee. All refunds are limited to amounts actually received by AAA and are the sole responsibility of AAA; the Met shall have no liability for refunds. At the time AAA receives written notification of cancellation, the following cancellation charges will apply: cancellations received between 120 to 91 days prior to departure, 20 percent of the program cost per person; 90 and 61 days prior to departure, 50 percent of the program cost per person; no refunds will be given for cancellations received within 60 days of depar-ture. No refunds are given for cancellation on or after the day of departure, or for unused portions of the tour, for any reason. Air cancellation charges, if any, will be assessed in accordance with airline regulations. All group fare tickets must be issued no less than 30 days prior to departure. NOTE: Neither AAA nor the Met shall be liable for any airline cancellation penalties incurred by the purchase of a non-refundable ticket. In the case of a cancellation due to shortage of participants, AAA will attempt to notify all participants at least 45 days prior to departure. However, AAA reserves the right to cancel The Program prior to departure for any reason and, in such case, reimbursement of refundable costs of the trip by AAA shall constitute full settlement with the participant. In the unlikely event that a dispute arises between a participant and AAA or the Met, the following conditions will apply: (a) the dispute will be settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association in New York, NY; (b) the dispute will be governed by New York Law; (c) the maximum amount of recovery to which a participant shall be entitled under any and all circumstances will be the sum of all monies actually received from the participant by AAA. The participant agrees that this is a fair and reasonable limitation on the damages, of any sort whatsoever, that a participant may suffer. ENTRE-OS-RIOS u PORTO, PORTUGAL Sunday, October 4

Arrive in Porto this morning as AmaVida passes under a magnificent iron bridge by French engineer Gustave Eiffel. After lunch, step ashore at Serralves to tour its Art Deco villa, formal gardens, and contemporary art museum, also designed by Álvaro Siza. Return to AmaVida for dinner. Pending artist schedules, attend an evening concert and private reception at Casa da Música, designed by architect Rem Koolhaas.

VEGA DE TERRÓN u PINHÃO, PORTUGAL Wednesday, September 30

Today begins with a visit to Castelo Rodrigo, a fortified hilltop village with panoramic views over slopes of almond trees and vineyards. Pass through its 16th-century walls, climb the narrow, medieval streets, and refresh with a tasting of the region’s wine and cuisine. Across the border in Barca d’Alva, Portugal, rejoin AmaVida for lunch and an afternoon lecture as we cruise to Pinhão. This evening a special dinner is arranged in Sabrosa at Quinta do Portal, a family-owned boutique winery whose vines have grown for hundreds of years. Tour its strikingly modern wine cellars designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza. The ship remains overnight in Pinhão.

PINHÃO u RÉGUA, PORTUGALThursday, October 1

Begin the day at Lamego to marvel at the spectacular Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies, where you may descend the pilgrimage steps of its beautiful tiled staircase. Admire 16th-century Flemish tapestries and religious art at the Museum of Lamego, located in the 18th-century Bishop’s Palace. Return to the ship for lunch and sail to Régua, arriving in the early evening for an after-hours visit at the Douro Museum, representing the wine region’s cultural heritage. After dinner, enjoy a lively performance of Portuguese folk music.

This morning, tour the wonderful manor house of Mateus, with its impressive baroque façade, library of rare books, and landscaped gardens. Continue to Amarante for lunch prepared by Chef Vitor Matos, recently voted Best Chef in Portugal, at Michelin-starred Largo do Paço restaurant, located in Casa da Calçada. Cross the Tâmega River to the fabled Church of São Gonçalo and the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum, featuring modern and contemporary Portuguese art. Alternatively, join Patrick Bowe at Casa de Pascoaes, former home and gardens of Portuguese poet Teixeira de Pascoaes. Return to AmaVida for dinner. The ship remains in Régua overnight and you may wish to try a white port tonic cocktail in town.

Attend a morning lecture as we sail to Entre-os-Rios. Pass through Carrapatelo Lock, Portugal’s first hydroelectric dam. Following lunch, drive to Penafiel for a visit to the charming gardens at Quinta da Aveleda and sample a

CANCELLATION POLICY AAA must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of The Program, which may include but are not limited to: advance payments to land operators; ship charters; communi-cation expenses; development/promotional expenses and the loss of time that might have permitted resale of reserved space. All cancellations must be made in writing to the offices of AAA and are subject to a $350 non-refundable administrative fee. All refunds are limited to amounts actually received by AAA and are the sole responsibility of AAA; the Met shall have no liability for refunds. At the time AAA receives written notification of cancellation, the following cancellation charges will apply: cancellations received between 120 to 91 days prior to departure, 20 percent of the program cost per person; 90 and 61 days prior to departure, 50 percent of the program cost per person; no refunds will be given for cancellations received within 60 days of depar-ture. No refunds are given for cancellation on or after the day of departure, or for unused portions of the tour, for any reason. Air cancellation charges, if any, will be assessed in accordance with airline regulations. All group fare tickets must be issued no less than 30 days prior to departure. NOTE: Neither AAA nor the Met shall be liable for any airline cancellation penalties incurred by the purchase of a non-refundable ticket. In the case of a cancellation due to shortage of participants, AAA will attempt to notify all participants at least 45 days prior to departure. However, AAA reserves the right to cancel The Program prior to departure for any reason and, in such case, reimbursement of refundable costs of the trip by AAA shall constitute full settlement with the participant. In the unlikely event that a dispute arises between a participant and AAA or the Met, the following conditions will apply: (a) the dispute will be settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association in New York, NY; (b) the dispute will be governed by New York Law; (c) the maximum amount of recovery to which a participant shall be entitled under any and all circumstances will be the sum of all monies actually received from the participant by AAA. The participant agrees that this is a fair and reasonable limitation on the damages, of any sort whatsoever, that a participant may suffer. After lunch, step ashore at Serralves to tour its Art Deco villa, formal gardens, and contemporary art museum, also designed by Álvaro Siza. Return to AmaVida for dinner. Pending artist schedules, attend an evening concert and private reception at Casa da Música, designed by architect Rem Koolhaas.

VEGA DE TERRÓN u PINHÃO, PORTUGAL Wednesday, September 30

Today begins with a visit to Castelo Rodrigo, a fortified hilltop village with panoramic views over slopes of almond trees and vineyards. Pass through its 16th-century walls, climb the narrow, medieval streets, and refresh with a tasting of the region’s wine and cuisine. Across the border in Barca d’Alva, Portugal, rejoin AmaVida for lunch and an afternoon lecture as we cruise to Pinhão. This evening a special dinner is arranged in Sabrosa at Quinta do Portal, a family-owned boutique winery whose vines have grown for hundreds of years. Tour its strikingly modern wine cellars designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza. The ship remains overnight in Pinhão.

Begin the day at Lamego to marvel at the spectacular Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies, where you may descend the pilgrimage steps of its beautiful tiled staircase. Return to the ship for lunch and sail to Régua, arriving in the early evening for an after-hours visit at the Douro Museum, representing the wine region’s cultural heritage. The Met and AAA reserve the right to accept or decline any person as a participant at any time, or to require any participant to withdraw from The Program at their own expense when such an action is determined by AAA or the Met to be in the best interest of the participant’s health and safety, or the general welfare of the other participants. CANCELLATION POLICY AAA must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of The Program, which may include but are not limited to: advance payments to land operators; ship charters; communi-cation expenses; development/promotional expenses and the loss of time that might have permitted resale of reserved space. All cancellations must be made in writing to the offices of AAA and are subject to a $350 non-refundable administrative fee. All refunds are limited to amounts actually received by AAA and are the sole responsibility of AAA; the Met shall have no liability for refunds. In the unlikely event that a dispute arises between a participant and AAA or the Met, the following conditions will apply: (a) the dispute will be settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association in New York, NY; (b) the dispute will be governed by New York Law; (c) the maximum amount of recovery to which a participant shall be entitled under any and all circumstances will be the sum of all monies actually received from the participant by AAA. D i t a A m o r y i s A c t i n g Associate Curator in Charge of the Robert Lehman Collection, having joined their staff in 1996 as Assistant Curator. She previously served as Chief Curator of the National Academy of Design. Following

graduate studies at the Institute of Fine Arts, she was appointed Librarian of the Oak Spring Garden Library, the horticultural collection assembled by Rachel Lambert Mellon. Dita has organized numerous exhibitions highlighting the Lehman Collection, particularly in the area of master drawings. Recently, she curated an exhibition of Pierre Bonnard’s late still life paintings, and is curator of the current exhibition, Madame Cézanne. This unprecedented exhibition brings together Paul Cézanne’s portraits of his lifelong companion and most frequent studio model, Hortense Fiquet. Dita is a longstanding trustee of The Drawing Center in Soho, and the New York Studio School. u

D i t a A m o r y i s A c t i n g Associate Curator in Charge of the Robert Lehman Collection, having joined their staff in 1996 as Assistant Curator. She previously served as Chief Curator of the National Academy of Design. Following

graduate studies at the Institute of Fine Arts, she was appointed Librarian of the Oak Spring Garden Library, the horticultural collection assembled by Rachel Lambert Mellon. Dita has organized numerous exhibitions highlighting the Lehman Collection, particularly in the area of master drawings. Recently, she curated an exhibition of Pierre Bonnard’s late still life paintings, and is curator of the current exhibition, Madame Cézanne. This unprecedented exhibition brings together Paul Cézanne’s portraits of his lifelong companion and most frequent studio model, Hortense Fiquet. Dita is a longstanding trustee of The Drawing Center in Soho, and the New York Studio School. u
