Rufous-Sided Towhee
This bird is found
in Pennsylv
ania
Traits
This bird is red, only is just on the sides, not the whole
breast. Neck, head, and back are black in males. This bird is
warm-blooded vertebrate.
Adaptations
It’s beak helps it get food. This bird eats seeds and insects. Feathers help it survive, because they keep the bird
warm in the winter and help it fly.
Interesting Fact
When seeking food, towhee energetically turn up leaves by
hopping backward, scratching with both feet.
Taking care of it’s young
The female lays three to four eggs. The eggs are creamy white with
brown spotting. She incubates them for 12 to 13 days. During the day she sneaks off to feed about once every
half hour.
What I thought was COOL
That this bird signs the song called Drink-Your-Tea repeatedly, trilling
the tea.
