TMAA INFORMATION To be read by the Executive Secretaries at the Fall Region Meeting

The Texas Music Adjudicators Association has formed two committees.

One committee is studying the current UIL sightreading process used in band, choir and orchestra events. This committee consists of the TMAA Executive Committee, which represents all divisions, as well as two members (one middle school and one high school) from each division. The intention is to consider ways to simplify the sightreading procedures used at UIL events to make the process more resemble how a group would sightread a piece of music in a normal classroom setting.

The second committee is studying possible revisions to the UIL Area/State marching band adjudication sheets. This committee has representatives from the various school classifications and geographic areas of the state. The committee hopes to develop an evaluation vehicle that is as progressive as the current trends in marching band performance and at the same time acknowledging the diversity of the marching styles across the state.

Any proposals submitted to UIL by these committees would have to be approved by the TMAA Executive Committee, Music Advisory Committee and the regions throughout the state before any changes would be implemented.

If you would like to provide input to either of these committees, please contact any of the committee members who are listed on the TMAA website at www.txmaa.org.
