Many students are involved in the completion of Major Works. Seek the support to parents/carers and families to encourage their students to maintain the focus on the completion of all HSC work.
STUDENT MEDICAL FORMS
During Terms 3 and 4 we will be updating our medical records systems to ensure we have the most up-to-date information on your child’s health. If you have a child with a medical condition you will receive a copy of the new forms in the mail and will need to fill them out and return them to us as soon as you can. The good news is we have already started collecting some of this information, which means less for you to do. The new forms will help us collect your child’s important medical information and the introduction of new systems will mean we'll be able to better manage the daily and emergency health needs of your child. We appreciate your support as we start collecting the
information, and if you have any questions please call.
iPad Update
We have been working very hard with our Year 7 and Year 8 students distributing and initialising their iPads. Some have been very simple and others very difficult. We are continuing to work with the students individually until all iPads are set up correctly. Any student who is having difficulties with their iPad needs to see Bonnie in the Library during recess and lunchtimes. Students who have not yet paid for their iPads may still do so at their earliest convenience. The cost of the iPad is $100 and the cover if required is $65. Once paid the student can collect their ipad on the FOLLOWING SCHOOL DAY at the BEGINNING OF LUNCH from Bonnie in the Library. Thank you Mr Murphy

NORTHERN RIVERS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING CHALLENGE
On the 5th of June, last term Ms Earley took 27 students, mainly from her year 10 Science class to the
Northern Rivers Science and Engineering challenge at Southern Cross University. This event is run every
year and this is the first time that Casino High School has put in a team. They were given various
challenges to perform in such as using balsa wood to build bridges, making catapults, making hovercrafts
and building houses to withstand hurricane strength winds.
Our team came in third which was a massive achievement for a group that had not participated in such an
event before. More than this though was the fact that both the judges and the organisers all praised the
behaviour, the enthusiasm, teamwork and effort displayed by the Casino High School students, this is what
we in the Science faculty know the majority of our students are like, but it was great to see that it was
acknowledged by others not connected to the school. Every member of the team was a credit to every
Casino High School student and to the wider School community.
I would like to make a special mention though of the professionalism and enthusiasm and dedication that
was put in by Ms Earley in organising this event and also her competitiveness on the day, without which the
team would probably not have even entered the event. Ask the other members of staff how difficult it is to
get permission notes from students and you will realise how much effort Ms Earley put in to this.
The participating Students were Kaylah Barton, Larissa Birmingham, Beau Carey, Benjamen Collison,
Nikkia Darr, Zoe Drysdale, Shannen King, Rhianna Lambert, Mitch Lavelle, Zachary Lyons, Alexander
McKee, Victoria McKee, Billy McLeod, Holly Miller, Anna Parker, Darcy Patton, Freya Russell, Darian
Ruttley, Cooper Smith, Jade Walley, Renee Weis, Amy Welsh, Jacob Yates, Toby Dalgleish Parker,
Kristen Hickey, Jakob Leven and Briannah Mackney.
Thank you to everyone.
