Centre for Railway Information Systems(CRIS) was established in 1986 as anautonomous organisation under Ministryof Railways. CRIS has a two-tier managementstructure with a Governing Council

PRS A countrywide online passengerreservation and ticketing system and theworld’s largest online reservationapplication, developed and maintainedby CRIS is a complex online distributedclient server application developed in‘C’ on OVMS using RTR (ReliableTransaction Router) as middleware.

ticketing solution launched by
IRCTC, interfacing the front-end by
writing procedures for search and

A new service, namely, e-ticketing
has been launched for all Shatabdi
trains originating from New Delhi.
The passenger does not require a
physical ticket to board the train and
can simply print the Electronic
Reservation Slip (ERS) at home or

Freight Operations Information System (FOIS)(Better Monitoring – Greater Efficiency)
A mission-critical system built onthree-tier client-server architecturewith Unix Tru-64, Oracle 9i RealApplication Cluster and BEA Tuxedo asapplication server.
FOIS enables management and controlof freight movement and optimisation ofasset utilisation, easy access tocustomers consignments statusfacilitating just-in-time inventory.
FOIS comprises of Rake ManagementSystem (RMS) for freight operations andTerminal Management System (TMS) forcommercial transactions. About 2000reporting devices have beencommissioned at more than 475locations of Indian Railways.
FOIS delivers strategic advantages toIndian Railways and its customersmeeting increasing freight volumes by:

A Domestic Terminal ManagementSystem (DTMS) with interfaces toFOIS and handheld terminals hasbeen developed, implemented andmaintained by CRIS for CONCOR. Asolution on BEA Weblogic platformprovides webaccess,automatede-mail andSMS servicesto customers.
Web Enabled ClaimsThe web enabled claims project is anonline application for computerisationof 16 zonal claims offices dealing withrailway claims, accident compensationcases, tracing of unconnected andundelivered wagons involving majorrailway customers.
The MIS is an inherent feature of thisapplication and consolidated reportsof all zonal railways can be accessedfrom the website.
The user-friendly software enables thegeneral public to not only file claimcases through the web but also trackthe progress of their claims.
