In the world of fundas where QC lies,One Corp to rule them all, One Corp to find them,One Corp to bring them all and in Awesomeness, bind them.

The Freshers quiz was ourinduction into standardquizzing. With the Principalsetting the stage for the quizwith his thoughts onQuizCorp, and the Director

stressed the importance ofenhancing local awareness inparticular.

The Freshers quiz acted as anideal platform for mostnon-quizzers to enter into theworld of quizzing. Theexcitement of the seniors waspalpable as they went throughthis initiation of sorts, in their

first years as well. Then there was the introduction to QClingo about which much has been said: funda, peters,arbit. QuizCorps unique traditions landed a smile andsometimes even a grin as well.Oh my god!! Awesome...I didnt know that... were thereactions one heard in response to the questions that gaveus our first taste of big-league college quizzing.

QuizCorpers are known to go around winning

quizzes in most places theyre held at. This year

has been no different. Wed love to list the

complete litany of our exploits in local quizzing

circles in a whole newsletter in itself, but our more

notable wins this year, nevertheless, have been at

Illuminati Quiz Club (Kochi), Saarang at IIT

Madras, NIT Tiruchirapalli and NIT Suratkal. The

inter-col legiate events conducted by

Karnataka Quiz Association and Cognizant

Technology Services are particularly special. Withour passion and enthusiasm for quizzing, we can

only be sure of continuously adding to the list.

QuizCorp is not just a college club. It has grown into a bustling network. 'Corpers (as we're called)are now a network spread over continents, organisations and vocations. And as it often happens, we

miss out on keeping in touch with this network. RVQuizCorp newsletter The Quizzicalattempts to bridge just this gap. So if youre reading this right now, then it just means that we consider

you to be a part of our fraternity, someone whos been with us one way or the other, as a Corper or aparticipant or a supporter , and that we want you to know what weve been upto and what we be ourplans for the future.

We're waving out and saying a big Hello! as we bring to you the first edition of theQuizCorp newsletter.

Now that were here, we must remark on theprofessionalism mixed with light-hearted fun, that is

evidently QCs culture - was for all to see at the FreshersQuiz. We knew about RVQuizCorp years before joiningthe college due to its immense popularity in winning andconducting quizzes all over India. And we learn that mostpeople do. Its now our turn and were only proudto be here and be part of RVQC.

FINE ANSWERS

T h e w r i t t e npreliminary roundcomprised of

questions rangingfrom the origin ofKoneru Humpy'sunique surname to the mechanism of crackingyour knuckles. It was a very close race, as is thecase with most quizzes, and the top six teamsfrom the sixty teams registered made it to thefinal.

The finals were a fun affair as teams from the

Quiz Federation of India at Chennai battled with

local teams, taking digs and ribbing one another

over in-jokes and friendly camaraderie. The quiz

was won by QED, a team from Chennai

comprising G.Swaminathan and Samanth

Subramaniam. The winning team won a cash

prize of Rs 9000 and an all expenses paid stay at

the Delta Residency, Calangute, Goa and the

prestigious Fine Answers rolling trophy. Indeed

a fine finish to an eventful UTPT.

Quiz Corp has many dimensions to it. A lesser knownside to us is that we regularly hold quizzes for schools,corporate organizations et al.

Tata Consulting Engineers, impressed by the

previous editions of UTPT, expressed a desire to haveus conduct a quiz for their employees on the occasionof TCE Day.

This quiz in2008 was so wellreceived for itscontent andpresentation,that we wererequested againthis year, for

another edition.

SUNGARDour main sponsors for UTPT 2009, also requested usto prepare a quiz for their employees, afterwitnessing an impressive Corporate Quiz held byAvinash Mudaliar, founder of RVQuizCorp.

The quiz wase n t e r t a i n i n g enlightening and

well received.

RVQuizCorp attempts to constantly collaborateprofessionally with corporate organizations andschools to popularize quizzing. We lookforward to working insimilar ways with morecompanies, and spreadquizzing culture todifferent spheres of life.

The most important event in every, QuizCorper's calendaris, without doubt, Under The Peepal Tree. Every quizorganised and every question answered through the year

is ultimately a small chunk in a bigger scheme-UTPT.We're gearing up for the 12th edition of our annual

quiz fest. New ideas are flowing in, the researchis taking shape and the buzz is livening up.

Under The Peepal Tree 2010 is slated for the latter weekof March 2010. It is no small deal to come up with high

quality quizzes and manage a three day show and therelated hoopla. But that is exactly what we're excitedabout. The three days of UTPT have been the bestdays of every year for each and every QuizCorper(and for quizzing, we'd like to think) and weintend to keep it that way with the latest edition.

As the action builds up, we have a considerably clearpicture of what UTPT 2010 will be like. We're trying to addnew dimensions to the college quizzes, and draw in a more

diverse set of quizzers from all parts of the country besidesour acclaimed regulars. The plans for a bigger and better

Fine Answers, The Corporate Quiz, has us particularly thrilled.

Weve been through the many UTPTs, building up on the successes of the previous years, not only by our sheer hardwork and quizzing sense, but mainly through the support of our sponsors. Through these years, our sponsors haveencouraged us to do more, and aided all our new ideas with limitless patience and generosity.

So here's saying a collectiveThank You to all the organisations who have made UTPT possible.
