St Ippolyts CE (Aided) Primary School
Issue 39: Thursday 18th July 2019
Goodbye Year 6! By the time you read this, I can guarantee we will have just spent a very emotional afternoon over at Church for our annual Leavers Service. I know I say similar every year, but this year’s Year 6s have been especially wonderful.
They have worked so hard and we have watched them grow into self-assured, confident, young people;
we could not be more proud of them as they fly the nest. I know
they all have many talents to share at their secondary schools, be it in music, drama, sport or academic,
and we look forward to hearing how they get on in years to come. I
know that they are ready to face lots of exciting new opportunities and will make many new friends and have some fantastic times
ahead of them. We are also waving goodbye to a number of parents who have been at the school for many years. Thank you for your support throughout the years and we look forward to hearing how
your wonderful children are getting on! Year 6, the sky is the limit for you all & we will miss you! Good Luck and
God Bless to each of you.
Tomorrow we also say goodbye to a number of members of staff and we send them on their way with our love, thanks and best wishes. Mrs Pateman and Mrs Weston have covered the maternity leaves of Mrs Hoar and Mrs Springall – we thank them for all their hard work in Class 3 and wish them well in their new jobs. Miss Massie heads off for a new life in France and Mrs Crawley, Mrs James and Miss Cosford have all been with us on a temporary basis; we are sad to wave them off too but I am sure they will all keep in touch! We also wave an unexpected goodbye to Mrs Blencowe who has had an exciting opportunity this week to work with secondary pupils – good luck Mrs Blencowe we are sad to see you and Bramble go!
Sports success again! Congratulations to the netball team who placed first at the netball festival on Tuesday bringing home more gold medals. They also came 2nd overall in the league over the year. Well done to the team and to their coach, Miss Walker.
Well done Year 6! If you have noticed that the Year 6 children have big smiles on their faces this week, it’s because they received their SATs results and we couldn’t be more proud of how well they have done: Reading: 73% at the expected standard (or above) 31% at the higher standard Writing: 77% at the expected standard (or above) 46% at the higher standard Maths: 77% at the expected standard (or above) 35% at the higher standard GPS: 73% at the expected standard (or above) 31% at the higher standard A big well done to them and thanks to Mrs Stewart for preparing them so well for the tests.
Parent Questionnaires 2019 Thank you to all of you who returned completed parent questionnaires; we received 65 responses by the deadline. With this week’s newsletter, you will receive an analysis of the results and the staff and Governors will be studying your feedback in depth when we are working on the School Development Plan for 2019 – 2020. If you returned your form after the deadline, your responses are not included in the analysis as I had a very tight timeframe in which to do it, but your completed form will of course be looked at and your views taken into consideration.
Attendance Awards In our final Collective Worship tomorrow, 68 children are on track to receive 100% attendance awards for the summer term. We also have 25 children ready to receive a medal for 100% all year, which is utterly amazing. Well done everyone!
Do your children love art? Many of you will know Mrs Archer who has taught here part time for many years. From September, Mrs Archer will be running after school art classes locally for KS2 children – see the flyer coming home today or visit www.arti-folk.co.uk for more information.
Thank you……to everyone who has supported our school over the past year:
Our Governing Body, particularly Mrs Thake the Chair, who provides such excellent support and leadership for the school. Much of what the Governors do is ‘behind the scenes’ but there is rarely a week goes by without a meeting or task of some description and they all give of their time voluntarily ~ thank you Governors! Our FANTASTIC and dedicated PTA committee who work tirelessly to host an array of events and raise such valuable funds ~ you are our unsung heroes! The work of the PTA makes SUCH a difference to what we offer in school and we are so grateful for your involvement however big or small. Just take a look on the back page to see how much has been raised this year, A WHOPPING £7522! To you as parents for all the support you give to the school through working in partnership with us to achieve the best outcomes for your children, your input is vital. Thank you especially to those of you who have helped in class, at special events, sports fixtures or on trips. Last but by no means least, the staff. We have a fantastic team of dedicated professionals who always give 100%. St Ippolyts School is so lucky to have them all. So THANK YOU to all the staff; they deserve a well-earned sleep over the summer!
A reminder that the autumn term begins for children on TUESDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER. I wish you all a restful summer break, and look forward to seeing you all back in September for another busy year. With this week’s newsletter:
