2019-2020 TRANSFER COURSE GUIDE

At St. Thomas, we're on a mission to do good. Inspired by the Catholic intellectual tradition, our

curriculum combines the practical with the purposeful - giving you the opportunity to get out and

make a difference in our Minneapolis-St. Paul community while you're a student and preparing you

for a lifetime of meaningful work after you graduate.

ST. THOMAS CORE CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS

Literature and Writing- 2 courses

Moral and Philosophical Reasoning- 2 courses

Natural Science, Mathematical and Quantitative Reasoning- 3 courses

Faith and the Catholic Tradition- 3 courses

Social Analysis- 1 course*

Historical Studies- 1 course

Fine Arts-1 course*

Students must complete the 111, 112 and 211 sequence in a particular language. All students

with previous language experience must take a placement examination administered by

Modern and Classical Languages program. The student's previous work in language will be

considered.

Human Diversity- 1 course**Courses fulfilling this requirement may also fulfill another core area requirement

Starting fall 2020 the University of St. Thomas will implement a new core curriculum. Contact your

admissions counselor to see how your courses will fit the new core curriculum.

This guide is meant to assist students in selecting courses that will fulfill St. Thomas requirements,

while also completing goal areas within the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC). St. Thomas

evaluates courses on a course-by-course basis. While many of the courses in the MnTC or the

Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree fulfill St. Thomas' core curriculum, it does NOT fulfill our liberal arts

requirements in their entirety.

This course guide is accurate to the best of our knowledge and ability at the time of publication but is subject to change.

Based on the 2019-2020 Normandale Community College catalog and the 2018-2019 University of St. Thomas catalog.

NOTES

The courses listed in this guide are not necessarily the only courses that will fulfill the

requirements at St. Thomas. You may appeal courses that are not listed here by submitting

the course syllabi for faculty review. Please contact your transfer admissions counselor to

begin this process.

**If you have completed fewer than 28 semester credits or the equivalent, your cumulative college GPA may need to be

higher for acceptance, and more emphasis will be placed on your academic record from high school

STUDENTS MOST LIKELY TO BE ACCEPTED

Students will be required to fulfill core curriculum requirements as published in the

catalog of the year they enroll at the University of St. Thomas.

Only coursework in which the student earned a grade of C- or higher from a regionally

accredited college/university will be recognized for credit at St. Thomas.

St. Thomas requires 84 credits outside the major department (76 credits for business
