BAPTISM The Baptism class is scheduled for Wed. Oct. 2nd at 7:00 pm and Saturday, Oct 12th at 3:00 pm. Baptism class is one of the requirements for Baptism. The parent(s) (may bring the baby if you wish or their siblings) are required to attend one 45 minute class. Please call the office or go online to register for class and to learn more about scheduling a Baptism.
SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY The church should be reserved as early as possible, before finalizing any other plans. Six months prior to the wedding date, the couple will meet with the Pastor to begin the process of preparation.
MINISTRY TO THE SICK Please inform us when your loved one becomes hospitalized or ill to receive the anointing of the sick .
Amos condemns the complacency of the rich who seek only their own comfort. In his parable about the rich man and Lazarus, Jesus echoes Amos, exhorting those who have to share with those who have not. Self-sufficiency must never blind us to the needs of others. Only in this way do we keep God’s commandments in integrity and in truth.
Stewardship Moment: In today’s Gospel Jesus offers a warning about living selfishly in his parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus. The Rich Man holds sumptuous feasts and dresses in fine clothes. But despite his affluence he does nothing to relieve the painful hunger and debilitating condition of his neighbor Lazarus. He neglects to love his neighbor as he loves himself and is sent to hell for his lifestyle and desire for self-gratification. The Rich Man represents those who spend their money on their own personal pleasures with no regard for sharing their material possessions with the poor and needy in their own neighborhood. Good stewards realize the practical implications of not only loving God, but loving their neighbor as they would love themselves. Who are the less fortunate in our neighborhood? Do we share a portion of
our own blessings with them?

wristbands for the Fall Fest at a discount the weekend of Saturday and Sunday September 28/29. Wrist bands will be available for a reduced price of $10.00 (a five dollar discount). To qualify for this discount the parents of the child/children must sign a Hold Harmless form at the time of purchase. Only legal guardians or parents can sign. All children who wish to play games ride the ponies, or play on the jump castles must purchase an wristband. No wristbands will be available in the office, only after Masses.
St. Theresa Catholic Church’s Seniors/Retirees will meet on Wednesday, October 9 at 11:30 am in the hall. All parishioners and friends are welcome. No dues or Roberts rules. We will make plans for future meetings. If we don't have a speaker, we will play Bingo. Remember to bring Bingo prizes, and your brown bag lunch. Desserts and beverages will be provided. Exalt “XLT” Charleston has invited High School students from the Charleston area (including us in Summerville!) to enjoy a free dinner, a talk on priorities and stress, and Eucharistic Adoration with worship music and reflective prayer. This special XLT event will be 5:00 – 7:00pm on Sunday October 6th at Bishop England High School 363 Seven Farms Drive, Daniel Island High School students are welcome to meet us at Bishop England or we can carpool from St. Theresa. If you would like a ride to XLT, meet us at St. Theresa by 4:20pm. We will leave promptly at 4:29pm! We will return to St. Theresa around 7:45pm. Thérèse Martin, (born January 2, 1873, Alençon, France—died September 30, 1897, Lisieux; canonized May 17, 1925; feast day October 1), Carmelite nun whose service to her Roman Catholic order, although outwardly unremarkable, was later recognized for its exemplary spiritual accomplishments. She was named a doctor of the church by Pope John Paul II in 1997.

Pro-Life Corner Sunday, October 6th is National Life Chain Sunday and this year’s Summerville Life Chain will be held from 2-3pm on Richardson and Main St. with free parking in the City garage. Please consider joining this quiet, peaceful, prayerful event. TACL will have signs with various pro-life messages there for participants. Let us be witnesses to the sanctity of life. RCIC: Is a program for children between the ages of 7 & 14 who have not been baptized or who are baptized but have not received their 1st Holy Communion. RCIC is open to both parishioners and non-parishioners who are in need of preparation for these Sacraments. Whether your family is just entering the church, or returning after time away these classes will bring your child up to date. They meet after 10:45 Mass. Anointing Of The Sick Jesus came to heal the whole person, body and soul. In the Church's Sacrament of
Anointing of the Sick, through the ministry of the priest, it is Jesus who touches
the sick to heal them from sin – and sometimes even from physical ailment. His
cures were signs of the arrival of the Kingdom of God. The core message of his
healing tells us of his plan to conquer sin and death by his dying and rising. The
Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of
death to receive the Sacrament. A careful judgment about the serious nature of the
illness is sufficient. When the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is given, the
hoped-for effect is that, if it be God's will, the person be physically healed of
illness. But even if there is no physical healing, the primary effect of the Sacrament
is a spiritual healing by which the sick person receives the Holy Spirit's gift of
peace and courage to deal with the difficulties that accompany serious illness or the
