Presidents Corner October 2020 www.manateepatchworkers.org Friends, I seem to be sounding like a broken record! Same thing over and over. This virus has really made an impact. However, many good things are going on with our guild! Ryans Cases for Smiles is beginning to wind down. I know Ive collected many, many pillowcases. The other ladies in the group are collecting the last of the finished pillowcases so that we can announce the winner at the October 5 Facebook Live. That meeting will feature one of our newer members, Laura Lawson, who has some wonderful surprises for us. You will find a ballot in this newsletter so that you can vote for some of our board for 2021-2022. You will also be able to vote by email. I will shortly be sending out an email message to which you can respond. The board wanted you to have a couple of options. You have to have your ballot to us by November 9 for it to count. Mary has agreed to run again for Vice President, however, she would really appreciate a guild member stepping into this position. Most if not all of 2021 has been planned, and has some projections into 2022. I really enjoyed the Vice Presidency when I was a relatively new member, so dont use Im newas an excuse. Someone please step up. The board is now exploring a couple ways you can pay your dues. We will send out a couple options to you in No- vember. Either way you must send in a completed applica- tion. More to come on this. I want to finish by personally thanking the Board - Mary Lewis, Susan Fickey, Robin Fouraker, June Cannon, Dar- lene Schwartz, Janice Dentler, Carolee Cuba, Lora Lech- manick, and Sue Baker. They have certainly made my job as President easy. Hugs and chocolate, Sheila Dont just count your blessings. Be the blessing other people count on.October Meetings Well have two Facebook Live meetings in October. On October 5 well be visiting Laura Lawsons studio, and on October 19 well be in Mary Lewiss. Be sure to join us at the Facebook Manatee Patchworkers private group. If you havent yet become a member, contact Susan Fickey for your invitation. Friends, I seem to be sounding like a broken record! Same thing over and over. This virus has really made an impact. However, many good things are going on with our guild! Ryan’s Cases for Smiles is beginning to wind down. I know I’ve collected many, many pillowcases. I really enjoyed the Vice Presidency when I was a relatively new member, so don’t use “I’m new” as an excuse. Someone please step up. The board is now exploring a couple ways you can pay your dues. We will send out a couple options to you in No-vember. Either way you must send in a completed applica-tion. More to come on this. I want to finish by personally thanking the Board - Mary Lewis, Susan Fickey, Robin Fouraker, June Cannon, Dar-lene Schwartz, Janice Dentler, Carolee Cuba, Lora Lech-manick, and Sue Baker. Help Wanted! We have an election coming up for half of our board.

Since no one has volunteered to take over as Vice President, I’ll be running again, but I would love to

have a partner, assistant, or someone who would like to become familiar with the job in anticipation of

taking over in two years. It’s a fun job, and once the current pandemic is finally behind us we’ll be back to

recruiting speakers and teachers. In the meantime we’re all learning to make use of virtual meeting

spaces.

Think of all those skills or people you would like to see at our meetings and have an opportunity to

provide interesting and fun activities for the guild! Let me know if you have any interest or would like to have

more information—I’d love to hear from you. Mary Lewis
