The day you say ‘I do’, whether you choose a low key family wedding or a lavish banquet, is very special. At the Barnstaple Hotel we’ll do everything we can to make your wedding day as it should be - so you can relax and enjoy the time of your lives.
Planning the perfect dayWith its stunning coastline and picturesque countryside, North Devon makes a romantic and memorable venue for your wedding. It is also a wonderful place to spend your honeymoon! Once you’ve chosen the Barnstaple hotel as the venue for your wedding reception, we are here to take the worry out of your arrangements by providing you with a number of bespoke wedding packages to suit your style and pocket. We will also provide you with a dedicated planner too, who will take care of as much as you need and help you make decisions that are right for you, even down to the smallest detail.
Getting married at the hotelAs well as hosting your wedding reception, we are also able to offer the Arlington or Ashford Suite as locations for civil marriage ceremonies.
All you have to do is arrange for the registrar to come to the hotel on your chosen day and we take care of the rest.
Getting it the way you wantOf course not everybody wants the same thing for their wedding, which is why we can be as flexible as you want when it comes to planning your day.
Some couples prefer the more traditional approach, whilst others opt for something altogether more informal. Either way, there are plenty of exciting decisions to be made.

Holding your ceremony at the hotelWe are delighted to be able to offer you the chance to hold your marriage ceremony at the Barnstaple hotel, in either the cosy Ashford suite or the larger Arlington Suite. Seating up to 250 guests, these rooms offer the ideal setting for your marriage and the ceremony couldn’t be easier to organise.
Your evening functionWe are perfectly equipped to cater for evening receptions, especially if you have additional guests you would like to invite for a later celebration. If you require entertainment we can arrange anything from a disco and DJ to a live band.

The SuitesWe have two suites for you to choose from depending on the size of your party:
The Arlington SuiteThis room is designed for the larger reception and can accommodate up to 250 people. The suite has its own bar for convenience, air conditioning for your comfort and a dance floor that can accommodate up to 360 people for your evening reception. It also has lighting that can suite your colour theme.
The Ashford SuiteA smaller suite perfect for an intimate wedding. It has its own private bar and can comfortably cater for up to 40 people - perfect for an intimate occasion.
Seating PlansGetting your seating plan right plays a key part in keeping your guests happy and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Whichever room you choose, we can provide you with an experienced planner who can help plan the room in the best way possible.
Food & WineOf course, this is one of the most important parts of your reception, and we offer a variety of tempting choices from lavish sit down banquets to informal buffet meals.

The Barnstaple Hotel can offer you and your guests a variety of elegant and luxury accommodation options to unwind and relax before and after your special day.
Our wedding packages come with complimentary accommodation for the bride and groom and discounted accommodation for any of your day/evening guests. All our rooms feature tasteful modern decor and exquisite soft furnishings with modern en suite bathrooms. Many rooms have views overlooking the outdoor pool and garden area.
We have got it all coveredYour room comes with everything you need for a restful night’s sleep before and after your big day, including a flat screen Freeview television, tea & coffee making facilities, telephone and free WiFi.
The Barnstaple Hotel does not have lift access, but we have many ground floor bedrooms for those who require them.

Chill out sanctuaryThe last thing we want is for your wedding to leave you or your guests feeling stressed, so we have all the right tools in place to help you relax and unwind. The delightful chill out sanctuary includes four heated stone beds, sculpted to your body shape. These beds are designed to soothe your muscles and give a feeling of deep relaxation and well being.

Civil ceremony
The Barnstaple Hotel has been granted a licence to hold civil wedding ceremonies - A fee of £300 is payable to the hotel for the hire of the The Arlington Suite or £175.00 for the hire of The Ashford Suite. All you need to do is arrange for the registrar to come to the hotel on your chosen day and we can take care of the rest. (Registrar fees will need to be paid separately)

Wedding ceremony - function suites
There are two ground floor rooms here at The Barnstaple Hotel ideal for wedding ceremonies -The Arlington Suite which can sit up to 250 and The Ashford Suite which can seat up to 40.
Wedding breakfast – function suites We have both the Arlington Suite and Ashford Suite available for wedding breakfast. The Arlington Suite is suitable for a wedding breakfast of 50 guests up to 250. The Ashford Suite is perfect for the smaller more intimate wedding atmosphere being able to seat up to 40.
Reception packages
Couples choosing our wedding breakfast menu and drinks package receive the following with compliments of the hotel:
• Red carpet reception • Silver cake stand and knife • Master of ceremony • En-suite bed & breakfast on the night of reception
Evening celebration
The evening room hire charge if no catering is booked is £600 this includes the dance floor and bar facilities. However if an evening buffet option is booked for more than 90 than this cost is waived as long as the wedding breakfast is being held here at The Barnstaple Hotel.
Getting the wedding you want
Of course not everyone wants the same thing for their wedding, which is why we can be as flexible as you want when it comes to planning your day. Some couples prefer a more traditional approach, whilst others opt for something altogether more informal. Either way there are plenty of exciting decisions to be made.
Accommodation For your guests requiring overnight accommodation, The Barnstaple Hotel has 60 bedrooms, so it’s important any guests wishing to stay book as quickly as possible. All these rooms are en-suite with a remote controlled television, hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary WiFi.
Your guests should contact the hotel reception team on 01271 376221 to make bookings and the receptionist will advise of the room rates for your time of booking with £10 off the standard tariff prices.
Entertainment
We are happy to recommend our DJ for your evening entertainment at a special agreed rate. However we have no objection if you wish to bring your own disco/band or entertainer as long as they have provided us with a copy or proof of their public liability insurance.
Booking requirements
A £1000 non-refundable deposit is required to formally confirm a booking. Final numbers must be confirmed 6 weeks in advance of the reception and these will form the basis for calculating the final invoice. These numbers will
be the minimum charged on your account. Payment is due no later than 28 days in advance of the reception. Upon the deposit being paid a written confirmation will be sent to you confirming your secured date.
Terms & conditions
Week day discounts apply to all wedding packages. Room hire charges will apply if you are only having an evening wedding reception. Final numbers are required 6 weeks prior to the event and will be the minimum number charged. Please note that all rates shown are based on a minimum of 50 guests. In the event of a cancellation of the confirmed booking charges will apply. Prices are subject to change and include VAT at the current rate. You can get married here at The Barnstaple Hotel, in either the Arlington Suite or Ashford Suite. Seating up to 250 guests these rooms offer the ideal setting for your marriage and the ceremony couldn’t be easier to organise.
All you need to do is check with us the availability of your chosen date and inform your registrar that the ceremony is to take place at the Barnstaple Hotel. The registrar will come to the hotel at your chosen time to perform the ceremony, in the same way it would be at the registry office. Ceremonies can only be booked as part of a package including a wedding breakfast.
All rooms come inclusive of:
• Your own dedicated wedding planner and master of ceremonies
• Red carpet on arrival
• Table linen and flowers on tables
• Cake knife and stand
• Bridal suite including breakfast for bride and groom
• Reduced rates for wedding guests for the evening of the wedding
