the story: british east india company. early 19th century. quinine was used daily to tackle malaria, one of india’s troubles. however, it was bitter to taste & before long it was being mixed with sugar, lime & water for easier drinking, & a slug of gin just to up the enjoyment. thus the gin & tonic was born and lives on to this day.
