HEAD COACH EZRA HENDRICKSON
Ezra Hendrickson was announced as an assistant coach on January 20, 2009, after completing a 14-year professional career, including 12 sea-sons in Major League Soccer. He is now the head coach of Sounders FC 2, the club’s USL team.
Hendrickson played parts of eight seasons for Sounders FC Head Coach Sigi Schmid, including three in Columbus prior to his retirement. Hendrickson appeared in 266 regu-lar season matches with 225 starts. Playing defense, he scored 23 goals and added 30 assists.
He also played in 32 postseason games with five goals and three as-sists. Hendrickson was a member of three MLS Cup championship teams, winning two with Schmid. Together, they won the 2002 MLS Cup with the Los Angeles Galaxy and the 2008 MLS Cup in Columbus. Hendrick-son was also with the champion D.C. United team in 2004.
A native of the island of St. Vincent in the Caribbean, Hendrickson began his career in 1997 with the New York MetroStars, before joining the Galaxy later that season. He totaled six sea-
sons in Los Angeles, where he won the 2000 CONCACAF Champions Cup, scoring two goals in a 3-2 vic-tory, and the 2001 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, scoring one goal in a 2-1 victory. He was named Galaxy’s Most Valuable Player for the 2001 season.
Hendrickson went to Dallas in 2003 and began the next season with the A-League’s Charleston Battery be-fore joining D.C. United for its run to the 2004 MLS Cup. After starting all 31 appearances in 2005 for expan-sion Chivas USA, Hendrickson was acquired by Columbus in early 2006.
An All-American and business admin-istration major at Drake University, Hendrickson first played profession-ally with New Orleans of the USISL Select League (1995-96). After earn-ing his first international cap in 1995, he served 12 years as captain of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines na-tional team.
Hendrickson earned his U.S. Soccer ‘A’ Coaching License in December of 2008. He is a resident of Layou, St. Vincent, and has two daughters, Xavia and McKenzie.
“EZRA KNOWS WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR, KNOWS WHAT IT TAKES TO PLAY AT THIS
LEVEL, AND HE PROVIDES A GREAT BRIDGE FROM S2 TO THE SOUNDERS FC FIRST TEAM.”
-SOUNDERS FC HEAD COACH SIGI SCHMID

Although Sounders FC 2 is only five months into its inaugural season, the team has had ample time to familiarize itself with its regional rival, Timbers 2.
With four matches already under its belt against the Timbers FC saplings, including three in league play and an extra time victory in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Third Round, the clubs have produced 390 minutes, 13 yellow cards and 10 goals against each other in 2015, with S2 emerging as
victor from each match
Friday night, S2 has a chance to complete the season sweep as T2 makes the trip north for the third time this season for the series finale.
“We obviously want to win every match, but these rivalry matches add a lot of excitement and energy to the players and the people watching,” said S2 Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson. “They are a very tough team, and because we beat them at their place we know they will come in hungry, but we will be prepared to defend our turf and get the win.
T2, which is 3-6-0 on the road, enters the match having most recently split a home and away

series against Whitecaps FC 2, defeating the ‘Caps 4-2 at home in its previous match. S2 enters the match having earned a 1-1 draw on the road against the high-scoring attack of Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Prior to that, S2 recorded a victory at home to the tune of a 4-0 shutout over Arizona United SC to regain the top of the USL Western Conference Table.
S2 still sits tied with LA Galaxy II atop the table going into the weekend, with T2 only one point out of playoff contention with a game in hand. A win for S2 would put the club alone in first as the season starts to dwindle, while T2 will look to make a late push to end above the red line.

It was the 82nd minute when Oalex Anderson made his home debut for Sounders FC 2 in the club’s fourth home match of the
season, replacing Aaron Kovar with the score line level at one.
The lanky forward from the small volcanic island of St. Vincent made his way onto the pitch quietly, but with a fire lit beneath him, looking to help his club maintain a perfect record at home. It didn’t take long for Anderson, who was sporting a heavy cast on his left wrist due to a broken finger, to leave his mark on the match. The 19-year-old received a pass out of the backfield and booked it toward the opposing goal – his speed launching him through the
midfield past a defender and into the box – where he was brought down for what would end up being the game-winning penalty scored by Pablo Rossi. It was the first flash of brilliance shown by the young signing, but it would not be the last.
Exactly two weeks later, Ander-son would go on to score the game-winning goal against Okla-homa City Energy FC, again as a second-half substitute who used a burst of speed and a couple crafty step-overs before beating the keeper to the near post.
“Oalex is an incredibly special player, and he can do some in-credible things on the field,” said S2 Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson.

“We believe his future is bright with this club, and he will be with the organization for a long time to come.”
Now, with forward Andy Craven called up to the First Team roster, Anderson has started to see his fair share of minutes in the starting lineup, and it’s a position he looks to hold on to with everything he has.
“I have grown more in my football since coming to Seattle than I ever have before,” said Anderson, who shares his homeland with Coach Hendrickson. “I knew the First Team coach [Sigi Schmid] was sitting in the stands, and that I needed to put in a good perfor-mance against Arizona, and I think I did that.”
The goal-scorer’s ability has been leaving the home fans stunned and on their feet, watching the zippy forward skirt by opposing defenses
with scorching speed, but his talent has also attracted the notice of the St. Vincent National Team, where Anderson played in both Olympic and FIFA World Cup qualifiers for the small island nation’s squad. Anderson scored three goals and had two assists in qualifying, earn-ing the captain’s armband for the U-23s for his performance.
“Playing in that last game against Oklahoma City before going to play for my country gave me the confidence to perform the way I did,” said Anderson. “It was nice to score a couple of goals and con-tinue with the same mindset I had when I left the states to play for my country.
“When I was home, my agent mes-saged me and told me Andy got called up, and that it was time for me to step up and do what he was doing with S2. When I got back up here, that was my duty, to fill the gap he left.”

Since returning from international duty, the forward made his first home start against Arizona United SC on July 12. Anderson put on a show, scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes of the match, including the opening goal just two minutes in.
Although he left the match early with an injury, he still appeared in the following match and contrib-uted to the buildup leading to the equalizing goal for the Rave Green in the 1-1 draw.
“It is awesome to see Andy get
called up. I have looked up to him since I have come here,” said Anderson. “From my first two training sessions with the team, I have seen how good of a guy he is and I am looking forward to keep working hard to earn the same opportunity.”
Anderson and the club return to Starfire this Friday to face Portland Timbers 2 for the series finale. S2 has won all four previous meet-ings, most recently shutting out T2 by a final score of 2-0 at Merlo Field in Portland.
