Welcome and Announcements

 Prelude

 The Adoration of God

The Call to Worship

*Hymn #101 “Come, Thou Almighty

King”

 *Prayer of Adoration

  *Confession of Faith

We believe that the only Redeemer of God’s elect is the Lord Jesus Christ, who being the eternal Son of God became man, and so was and continues to be God and man, in two distinct natures and one person, forever.

We believe that as our Redeemer, Christ is a prophet, priest, and king.

We believe that as our prophet, Christ reveals by His Word and Spirit the will of God to us for our salvation.

We believe that as our priest, Christ offered Himself up once, as a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice and reconcile us to God, and that He continually intercedes for us.

We believe that as our king, Christ subdues us to Himself, rules and defends us, and restrains and conquers all His and our enemies.

(adapted from the Westminster Shorter Catechism)

 The Means of Grace

Scripture Reading Hebrews 10:36-3936 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. 37 For,

“Yet a little while,    and the coming one will come and will not delay;38 but my righteous one shall live by faith,    and if he shrinks back,my soul has no pleasure in him.”39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

Confession of SinAlmighty and most merciful Father; we have erred and strayed from Your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against Your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done. O Lord, have mercy upon us. Spare those, O God, who confess their sins. Restore those who are penitent; according to Your promises declared to us in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for His sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life; to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.

Words of Pardon and AssuranceThe sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. (Psalm 51:17)

Visitors Welcome! We extend a warm welcome to all who are visiting with us today. We are delighted that you have chosen to worship with us this morning at Sovereign Grace.   As we adjust to new protocols for safety at the current time, feel free to speak to any leader in our church if you have questions about our fellowship, or call the church office (704-553-9600) during the week. Also, we encourage you to fill out a Guest Card (found in the pew) and drop it in an offering plate on your way out!

With earnest devotion to Christ our Lord, let us return for the evening service to "speak to one another in hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs" (Eph. 5:19). Pastor Rob Dykes will be preaching this evening's sermon. The service begins at 6pm.

 On-Line Resources

Women’s Bible Study: Women's Bible Studies will resume on Zoom on Monday, June 22 and Thursday, June 25. We will be using G. K. Beale's book Redemptive Reversals as we look at how God works in ways that confound human wisdom. The same material will be taught on Monday nights (7:00-8:30pm) and Thursday mornings (9:45-11:15am), so pick whatever time works best for you. The book can be purchased on Amazon, but is not required for participation in the study. If you are interested in participating, would like the Zoom link, or have any questions, email [email protected].  Friday Men’s Study: The 6:30am Friday morning Bible Study is studying Romans and participation is via Zoom. Contact Ron Barnwell at [email protected] if you want to be added to the Zoom invitation list.  Saturday Men’s Study: This Men’s Study is continuing their study through the Gospel of Luke via ZOOM at 9:00am on Saturday mornings and all are welcome to join. For more information, email [email protected].

Tuesday Evening Fellowship:  Every Tuesday many of the Young Adults play 'soccer' at Huntingtowne Farms Park (6:30pm). This has become a time of fellowship for several of the WAGS (wives and girlfriends) and children and others. Even if you don't play soccer, feel free to come along for fellowship, to enjoy the summer evenings, and to see Pastor Rob's wonderful soccer skills. Male or female, kids or no kids, soccer fan or not, bring a blanket and come along.

The Young Adult Summer Picnic will be held on June 20 (this Saturday) at 3:30pm. The Picnic will be at Huntingtowne Farms, and include food, fellowship, games (wheelbarrow and sack races etc.), and volleyball matches.
