Increasing Sustainability and Comfort in Residential
Dormitories
ABSTRACT: This resolution reuests that the !"ice of Student and
Camus$ife %acilities allo& students to ha'e more control in the
temerature oftheir rooms.

-hereas Article II of the Charter of the Student Assembly states
that the StudentAssembly has /the authority and the resonsibility
to e0amine any matters &hichin'ol'e the interests or concern
the &elfare of the student community and to ma1eroosals
concerning those issues to the aroriate o"icers or
decision2ma1ingbodies of the 3ni'ersity45 and
-hereas Article III 6 + of the Student Assembly Charter states
that /the SA &illha'e legislati'e authority o'er the olicies of
the Deartment of Camus $ife45 and
-hereas roughly 7+8 of students li'e on2camus4 and+
-hereas htt:99dos.cornell.edu9o"2camus2li'ing
-hereas the Student Assembly has e0ressed interest in ma1ing
Cornell moreen'ironmentally friendly by reducing &asteful
emissions4 and
-hereas room temerature in ne&er and retrotted dormitories
is comuter2controlled4 a
-hereas &ithin these ne&er dormitories students
currently are grantedtemerature control &ithin a certain
temerature bound tyically only ;e.g. ?@= allo&s for students to
