Exhaust g s emission control
Saab
cars
are equipped \\r:ith three
way catalytic converters
which
remove
unburned
hydrocarbons
carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide
from the
exhaust
gases.
The
active
part
of
the
catalytic
converter
con
sists of two
ceramic
cores with
small square holes coated with a
thin film
of
precious
metals
. The
ca talyst converts
most of
the toxic
substances
to
inore innocuous gas
