  • Praying with Prisoners We are constantly “restocking” the basket of prayer intentions from our imprisoned sisters and brothers and you are invited at any time to pick up one or two to take home and add to your daily prayer. The intentions are found in the small basket located on the round table in the church vesti-bule.

Our thanks to those who directly minister to the incarcerated in our area for providing this service to our parish!

News from Cataldo Catholic School Time is marching on: We just finished celebrating Catholic Schools Week, and this coming week we will mark the 100th Day of the 2019-20 school year!

2020-21 Registration and Open House: Registration for the coming school year, 2020-21, begins Friday, February 21st. We will hold an Open House at 9 am that day—all are welcome! If you are unable to make it, and are interested in a tour, please contact Anita Condon, [email protected], or (509)624-8759, ext. 304.

From the 4th Grade Class: The 4th grade students are blessed to be able to visit and volunteer at St. Margaret’s Shelter. Each month, 4 to 6 students take a tour of the shelter, visit and learn about the Pearl Room, and complete acts of service, in-cluding organizing rooms, cleaning toys, and making crafts & cards for the residents. They also bring different items to do-nate to the shelter, such as dental products, shampoo/conditioner, and gently-used or new winter clothing. If you items you’d like to contribute to this cause, please contact Janet Maucione, [email protected], or Rachael My-ers, [email protected].

A Word from Father… Dear Friends,

Last week, Bishop Daly asked all parish pastors, staff and members of parish Finance Councils to attend a special meeting on fund-raising. Usually, invitations to such meetings are met by me with the same enthusiasm as those I receive from my dentist inviting me to come on in for a root canal. This one, however, was different. The presenter was a young fellow by the name of Nic Prenger representing his own company, Prenger Solutions Group. He was surprisingly both entertaining and in-formative. One of the things he assured all of us about was that we were almost certainly way behind the curve when it comes to how people prefer to give to their church; though a certain age group (he was looking at 70+ crowd) still like using envelopes and writing the checks to put in them, most everyone else and especially the folks in their 30’s through 50’s much prefer using digital means to give. He also assured us that those who use digi-tal means to make their church donations actually give more consistently and more fulsomely.

By “digital” he means using either their com-puter or their cell phones to make their gift...or sometimes by

using a bank’s own “bill pay” function. He asked us how many of us have easy to use “Donate” buttons on our websites; most of us did not. He let us know we would be idiots if we didn’t fix this situation ASAP! So as not to be considered an idiot (though I may be by some), and so as to make giving to Sacred Heart as easy as possible for those of you who are ready to go digital, we have added an easy-to-use “Donate” page on our parish website: shparishspokane.org/donate. On this page you will find easy instructions on how to use the fill-in form as well as answers to a number of questions about On-Line Giving. It can be accessed both through your computer at home or “on the go” by way of your cell-phone (presuming your phone is of the “smart” varie-ty).

And if you have questions about how to access or use the On-line Giving/Donate option, just give Aggie a call in our parish office during the week.

Anyway, however you give and whatever you give, thank you so very much!!!

Aladdin Jr. Don’t miss out on Cataldo Catholic Schools’ won-derful production of Aladdin Jr. (featuring both Father Kevin and Father Ratuiste from the Cathe-dral!), March 18-19, 6:00 pm, at Spokane Community College.

Sponsored by the Diocese of Spokane, for all local High School Youth, grades 9 –12. For more information, contact Justin & Abby Hurtubise,

    [email protected].

Thank You! On behalf of Bishop Daly and all our diocesan Catholic Schools, we thank you for your contributions to the spe-cial collection we took up during Catho-lic Schools Week!
