Guidelines for attending Mass:
If you are healthy, go to Mass to hear God’s
Word with your brothers and sisters in the faith
and receive the Lord Jesus in the Eucharist. But
if you fear that going to Mass could be
dangerous to you or others, remember that the
obligation to go to Sunday Mass remains
suspended.
You MUST wear a mask during the entire Mass, only briefly adjusting to receive Communion.
You will be directed to fill the church from the front to the back, and be excused from Mass from the back to the front.
Everyone please process up for communion. If you choose not to receive, simply cross your arms across your body. This prevents others from climbing over you as they move through the pew.
After receiving Communion, please step to the side (6 ft away from Fr, place is marked) before lifting mask to consume the Holy Eucharist.
Maintain a 6ft distance from others, when entering, during and when leaving Mass.
Hand sanitizer will be applied to your hands upon entering and leaving the church.
Please do not linger, congregate in the back of the church, or parking lot before or after Mass.
Please consider….
If you believe you have come in contact with
someone who may have Covid-19, consider
self-quarantining for 10 days,
(recommended guidelines). And if you
show symptoms, please contact your Dr for
a test and stay home. As we have always
requested and is mandated by the Governor
of West Virginia please continue to wear a
facial mask, wash your hands often, and
practice social distancing. It is important to
do all we can to stop the spread of this virus

appreciated!
o The Food Pantry will NOT be accepting any clothing items for the Clothing Closet or items for the Yard Sale until further notice.
o The Food Pantry is continuing to be opened and operating on Wednesdays from 9:00am – 3:00pm to serve our needy neighbors. Extra precautions are being taken to ensure the health and safety of the clients and volunteers.
o Please remember to support the Food Pantry financially by using the designated Food Pantry envelope included in your weekly giving envelopes, or by mailing a donation to the Church at PO Box 608, Bluefield, WV 24701. Mark your donation “for the Food Pantry”.
Once again, our food pantry has been the recipient of The
Community Foundation of the Virginia’s generosity. We applied for
and received a grant to help with food expenses.
This grant is much needed and appreciated since our fund raisers,
Sabika Bingo and the Yard Sale were cancelled due to Covid-19. What a
blessing the Foundation has been to our pantry and our community.
LET US GIVE THANKS!

Faith Formation 2020—2021
I received from the Lord what I handed on to you.
The 2020 Catechetical Sunday theme is taken from
St. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, “I Received
from the Lord what I also Handed on to You.” The
theme focuses on the primary substance of
catechesis, which is an invitation to a whole new life
given by Christ Himself. It emphasizes that living
faith necessitates movement, inspiring all those
who hear the Word to share it as witnesses of the
true and living God. Sacred Heart will celebrate
Catechetical Sunday on October 4, 2020. Those who
the Church Community has designated to serve as
catechists will have their names called out during
Mass. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all
to rededicate themselves to this mission as a
community of faith. Though our Faith Formation will
be handled differently this year by zoom meetings,
please keep all in prayer as we navigate through this
time until we can return to the school building
again.
Thank you to our catechists: Faith Formation:
Samantha Black, Sherry Ciccolini, Kathleen Hahn,
Courtney Longworth, Mary Malamisura, Carey Ott,
Babette Pascasio, Ashley Rebuck, and Courtney
West ~ Youth Ministry: Wendi Aiello, Katie Kidd,
Marilyn McCoy, Delores Shumate, and Laura Ward ~
RCIA Team: Julia Harrison, Claire Lampert, Terry
Lampert, and Barbara Musolin.
Our first ZOOM Meeting that includes everyone in
Faith Formation ~ catechists, parents, and youth will
be at 10:30 this morning! Please check in to say
hello.
The RCIA Team is seeking individuals interested in joining the Catholic faith. Come on a journey with us to Catholicism. The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the process for welcoming new members. Our next session will be Wednesday, October 7 at 5pm in the school building. It will be held in our large classroom. Social distancing and wearing a facial covering will be observed. If you know someone who may want to start the process this fall, please give their name to Claire Lampert at 304-921-2455 or Julia Harrison at 304-327-5623.
A Prayer for Catechists
O God, our Heavenly Father, you have given us the gift of these catechists to be heralds of the Gospel to our parish family. We lift them up to you in thanksgiving and intercede for them concerning their hopes and needs. May we be attentive to the presence of your Word in them, a Word that lifts up and affirms, calls forth and challenges, is compassionate and consoles. We pray that our parish family will always be blessed with those who have responded to the call to share in Christ’s prophetic mission as catechists. May we too be open to the universal call to service that Christ addresses to all of his disciples, contributing our gifts to the communion of faith, the Church. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please keep the Gipson Family in your prayers as,
Elbert “Gip” Gipson, has passed away.
Eternal rest grant to him O Lord and

Dear Parishioners, it is most gracious, kind, and good
of you for the Priesthood Sunday wishes, generous
