WORD OF LIFE!!
Wonder how to protect your child from being vulnerable
to manipulation or abuse by bullies? There's no magic
vaccine but a child who knows they are unconditionally
loved and respected by their parent (s) is inclined to
accept their own worth and not depend on validation
from others.
BAKING & OR KITCHEN HELP~ The Social Committee
will soon be under way getting ready for the
Bah Humbug which will be held on December 14, 2019.
It takes lots of helping hands to make this event a
HUGH SUCCESS. If you have any time and would like
to help, please give Helene Burdick (594-0439) or
Linda Brunner (335-4083) a call.
STUDENTS~ keep in mind that if you need Service
Hours, this is a GREAT way to receive hours and give
back to YOUR Church.

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
In today’s gospel the rich man died and was condemned
to “a place of torment” because he ignored the poor.
He asked Lazarus to go and warn his five brothers to
change their ways. Evidently ignoring the poor was a
family pattern. What is your family’s attitude toward
those who are poor?

Sins of omission come from a habitual attitude
of self-centeredness.
The story of a missionary named Marcela, still living
today, is a perfect example of the exact opposite
attitude.
At a young age, Marcela consecrated her life to
Christ and became a full-time lay missionary. Soon
thereafter, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, a
degenerative and incurable disease that saps your life
away painfully and relentlessly. Marcela had always
been afraid of suffering. Now she had to suffer. She
did so physically, giving herself shots every day, and
literally feeling her strength, energy, and coordination
drain away.
She also suffered spiritually - her dreams of a long life
of active missionary service were gone. Marcela asked
God to show her his will in this trial.
He reminded her that her sufferings, united out
of love to Christ's sufferings, can have a purpose. They
can be offered to God as sacrifices to win graces for
other members of Christ's mystical body, others who
are in need. She realized that her suffering could
become her missionary activity. So Marcela began to
offer every shot, every new manifestation of her
disease, for someone who needed help: a young man
struggling with his call to the priesthood, an elderly
woman dying of cancer, a friend who had turned away
from God. Soon others heard of what she was doing,
and a flood of requests began pouring in.
"Please offer your shot today for my uncle who is near
death and has not yet gone to confession."
"Pray for my brother who is starting to do drugs, and
please offer some of your sufferings for him...."
It was the beginning of a new ministry. Within a year
Marcela had gathered a small army of two hundred
fellow-sufferers who were doing what she was doing,
and who were now suffering with purpose. It's that
habitual attitude of self-giving, that missionary attitude
that is always on the lookout for opportunities to build
Christ's Kingdom, which will defend us from the dangers
of the sin-of-omission mentality that was so deadly for
the rich man in the parable.

COMMUNITY ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN
NORTH AMERICAN LIFE CHAIN EVENT~ The North
American Life Chain is held annually on the first Sunday
of October. The local Life Chain in downtown St. Marys
scheduled for October 6 from 2 to 3 pm. Students and
families are especially encouraged to attend.
Participants are asked to meet between 1:30 and 2 pm
at the K of C building on the corner of N St. Marys and
Washington Streets to pick up a pro life sign. During the
one-hour chain, participants are asked to pray on
suggested topics listed on the back of the signs. Given
the state of our nation regarding abortion, the issue calls
for action now more than ever and Life Chain is an
excellent opportunity to stand up
and be counted on the value of all
lives, especially the unborn and
mothers in crises pregnancies.
For info please contact

Ever Wonder Why .... ? (Part I)
There is a multitude of anomalies, inconsistencies and downright deceit surrounding the abortion issue.
Why is it. .. one never sees the word "abortion" on the buildings or signs at abortion clinics? If abortion
is such a good "choice", why hide what it is they really do?
Why is it. .. when three people die from E.coli poisoning, spinach is immediately pulled off the shelf in
every corner of the nation, but when eight women die from the RU-486 (the at-home abortion pill) no
one even raises an eyebrow?
Why is it. .. that on one floor of many US hospitals they will abort babies left and right, but on another
floor, we spend tens of thousands of dollars to save a child born at the same gestational age as the
children being aborted floors below?
Why is it. .. when a woman goes into an abortion clinic, the champions of "choice" only offer the choice
of abortion?
Why is it... that Planned Parenthood has a budget well over $800 million a year, while pro-life
organizations are forced to eke out projects and programs on a shoestring budget?
Why is it... that we are flooded with images of violence in our media, yet it is deemed entirely
inappropriate to provide any photos or images related to an abortion and
even provide the public with a factual description of what takes place?
Why is it... that abortion protagonists use incomprehensible language such
as "disarticulating a fetus" or .....
Pro-Life Articles
Ever Wonder Why .... ? (Part II)
Why is it... that when a woman is happy about her pregnancy, it's a "baby"?
She is asked questions like, "when is your baby due?" When she goes to an
abortion clinic, she is often told that "it" (the growing child) is only a blob of
tissue or a product of conception?
Why is it... so many people are uninformed about abortion and it receives
so little coverage in the
media, despite the fact that it is the number-one cause of death in the US
every year.
Why is it... that you can kill an unborn baby anytime you want to, for any reason under the sun, but if
you destroy a turtle egg on a Florida beach, you go to jail?
Why is it..." if abortion is supposed to be available to give a woman a "choice", that illegal coercion is
the number-one cause of abortion in America today? Also, the number-one cause of death among
pregnant women is murder.
Why is it. .. that many do not see the handwriting on the wall. .. that abortion is a catalyst to infanticide,
euthanasia, assisted suicide, human cloning etc. only to name a few contemporary assaults on the
sanctity of human life?
Why is it... that the major Fortune 500 companies will proudly support Planned Parenthood, the largest
provider of abortion, but pro-life companies are scared to death to openly support the unborn, for fear of
retribution in the marketplace?
Why is it... that in every election cycle, God-fearing citizens cast their vote for politicians who support
abortion when we know that the greatest gift God gives us is life and the greatest attack on
life is abortion?
