Sacred Heart Catholic Church Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe ~ November 24, 2019

Reflection from the Pastor:

Hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving! You are all be in my

prayers. I am praying in a special way for those who are missing someone

this holiday season and those of you who are traveling.

A prayer before traveling:

O almighty and merciful God, who has appointed the angels to guide and

protect us, command them to be our diligent companions from our setting

out until our return; to clothe us with their invisible protection; to keep us

from all danger; and finally, having preserved us from all evil, and

especially from sin, to guide us to our heavenly home. Through Jesus

Christ our Lord. Amen.

CHRIST THE KING

From today’s Preface: “making all things subject to his rule, he might

present to the immensity of your majesty an eternal and universal kingdom,

a kingdom of truth and life, a kingdom of holiness and grace, a kingdom of

justice, love and peace.”

“Dear brothers and sisters, today we proclaim this singular victory, by

which Jesus became the King of every age, the Lord of history: with the

sole power of love, which is the nature of God, his very life, and which has

no end. We joyfully share the splendor of having Jesus as our King: his rule

of love transforms sin into grace, death into resurrection, fe ar into trust.”

The Fiat Ministries Discernment Retreat

Fiat Ministries cultivates a culture of discernment for

young women by inspiring them to say yes to the vocation

that God is calling them to. The Fiat Discernment Retreat is

an opportunity for young women to ask questions, pray,

listen, and open their hearts to the Lord’s will. Throughout

this weekend of discernment, participants will receive

wisdom through prayer, presentations by religious sisters,

recreation, and fellowship. Single women, age 18-30 who

are seeking to do God's will, are invited to attend the

upcoming Fiat Discernment Retreat on December 20-22,

2019, at the Spiritual Life Center. The cost of the retreat is

$25 which includes meals, lodging, and materials. If you

are interested in attending or would like more information

REVERSE THE RULING—PRO-LIFE EFFORT The Kansas Supreme Court recently created a nearly

unlimited “right to abortion” in our State Constitution. The

consequences are horrific. Taxpayer funded, late-term

abortions could soon take place in Kansas. Already today

as a direct result of the decision in Hodes & Nauser, MDs

v. Schmidt, live dismemberment abortions continue in

Kansas at a rate of about a dozen a week.

The only way to realistically overturn this shocking

decision and place limits on the abortion industry is to

REVERSE THE RULING by amending the State

Constitution. The Catholic Church in Kansas is helping to

lead this effort to pass a state constitutional amendment.

The first step is encouraging everyone to sign the

REVERSE THE RULING petition which will be

available in the back of church. Learn more about this

effort at www.KansasCatholic.org

Council 2614 Knights are asking that all parishioners

consider signing the Reverse the Ruling petition sheets at

any church entrance or take the provided cards at the

entrances or in the pews and drop them into the collection

baskets during Mass. We will coordinate gathering all

sheets and cards with the Parish Office and send all

signatures in to the Kansas Catholic Conference after the

Monday, November 25th meeting. Thank you for your

stand for LIFE!

~ Papa Francisco
