MISSION APPEAL
During the weekend of September 21-22, 2019, Reverend Joseph Quan Nguyen, CSSp, will visit our parish to speak at the Masses about the missionary work of the Church and in particular that of the Spiritans (Congregation of the Holy Spirit, previously known as the Holy Ghost Fathers). To learn more about the Spiritans, please visit their website at http://spiritans.org.
This visit is part of a national program in which annually a representative of one of the missionary groups visits par-ishes of the Archdiocese to invite the parish to share in the mission work of the universal Church. The Spiritans are an international community engaged in a wide range of mis-sionary activity in over 60 countries throughout the world. Fr. Joseph is a missionary priest now serving in Cuidad Madero, Mexico.
When Jesus said: “You shall witness to me in Jerusalem and in Samaria and to the ends of the earth”, He made the spread of the Gospel an essential part of our Catholic life.
We urge you to respond generously to Father Joseph’s ap-peal. Thank you again for the opportunity to minister in your parish and to share with the people our ministry of the Church spreading the Gospel throughout the world.

FESTIVAL RAFFLE TICKETS ON SALE!
Raffle tickets for the Fiesta are now available. Ticket costs $1. Get your tickets and have the chance to win the grand prize of $1,000.00. For those who return their raffle stubs early, they will have a chance to win a $100 for an “Early Bird” drawing, which will be held on Sunday, September 22nd, after the 12 noon Mass. All the raffled tickets will be eligible for the main raffle during the Festival. If you already have the tickets, please return your raffle stubs and donations to the Parish Office or to the Raffle Team Committee, whom you will find un-der the Oak Tree on Sundays.
“CALLED TO RENEW”
CAMPAIGN
Over the next several years, every Catholic in our Archdiocese will be
invited to respond to a call for renewal and partici-pate in this historic effort.
The Called to Renew campaign is an opportunity to renew not only our spirit, but the ways in which we live out our faith in our parishes-through outreach and lifelong faith formation. It is an opportunity to renew and renovate physical structures, ensuring they are safe spaces for families to learn, grow and word-ship. It is an opportunity to renew and reaffirm our support for priestly vocations and formation. It is an opportunity to renew and reinvigorate our ministries to serve those who are sick, dying, and imprisoned, as well as their families. And it is an opportunity to re-new and reimagine faith formation so people of all ages can grow in their Catholic faith.
Our theme, Called to Renew, emphasizes the desire for this campaign to be both spiritual and material. I pray our efforts will inspire each of us to renew our spiritual commitment and sense of responsibility for the mission and future of the Church.
I ask for your support as we begin Called to Renew. On the weekend of Sept 14-15, I will make a presen-tation in the Church about this campaign.
Together, we will boldly bring the Church to a new era.

BEGINNING EXPERIENCE
“Beginning Experience” is part of an international ministry for those men or women who have experienced the loss of a spouse through death, divorce or separation. A “Beginning Experience” weekend will be held on October 4-6, 2019, at Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Encino, CA. This weekend helps a person move from the darkness of grief into the light of a new beginning with renewed hope. “Beginning Experience” is recognized by the Office of Family Life for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Our community of faith prays for the healing of all those who have been abused
As members of the Catholic community, each of us can contribute to the healing of those harmed by abuse, especially by remembering victim-survivors in our prayers. We pray for those harmed by someone, wheth-er in church, family, school or community, confident that healing is possible, and mindful that we can all work to prevent further abuse. Inspired by the vision of a victim-survivor, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has created a prayer and information card as a tangible symbol of outreach and support to those in need. Please join in this effort and our shared hope that the re-sources and prayer on the card will reach those in need to bring the healing light of Christ to the darkest places of pain. The bilingual prayer card and multilingual posters, including information on how to report abuse, have been distributed to all parishes and are available for download at protect.la-archdiocese.org. ¿SABÍA USTED?

“FREE” FLU SHOT
It’s flu season once again! We are blessed that the Huntington Hospital Outreach Program is offering to our parish community a free Flu Vaccination on Sun-day, September 29 from 9am to 11:30am at the Min-istry Center. All are welcome, but please take note of the following important requirements:
1) For adults over 18 years old and children 9-17 years with parent/guardian present for consent 2) No allergy to eggs or previous influenza vaccine 3) No history of Guillain-Barre syndrome 4) No serious illness or fever on day of vaccination

Independent Compensation Program for Victim-Survivors of Abuse by Diocesan Clergy
As part of our long-standing commitment to provide pasto-ral care and to support the healing process for victim-survivors, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, along with five other dioceses in California, is participating in the new In-dependent Compensation Program by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Diocese of Fresno, Diocese of Orange, Diocese of Sacramento, Diocese of San Bernardino, and Diocese of San Diego for Victim-Survivors of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Priests (ICP). The ICP is adminis-tered independently of the Church by Kenneth Feinberg and Camille Biros, widely recognized as premier dispute resolu-tion administrators in the country. The program will begin accepting registrations on Monday, September 16, 2019, from any person who has been sexually abused as a minor by diocesan priests of the participating dioceses, no matter when that abuse might have occurred. Funding for the pro-gram in our Archdiocese will come from self-insured re-serves, monies set aside for this purpose. We pray that this new program might provide another avenue toward healing and hope. For more information on the ICP, please visit www.californiadiocesesicp.com after September 16th.

Como parte de nuestro compromiso de proporcionar atención pastoral y apoyar el proceso de sanación para las víctimas-sobrevivientes, la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles junto con otras cinco diócesis en California, están partici-pando en el nuevo Programa de Indemnización Inde-pendiente por la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles, Dióce-sis de Fresno, Diócesis de Orange, Diócesis de Sacra-mento, Diócesis de San Bernardino, y Diócesis de San Diego para Víctimas-Sobrevivientes de Abuso Sexual de Menores por Sacerdotes Diocesanos (ICP).
