Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Peace be with you! Happy 4th of July!!
Welcome to Sacred Heart as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time. I appreciate you joining us, either in person or by way of YouTube. United in prayer, may we be nourished by the words of Sacred Scripture.
After 20 years as your Pastor, it’s time for me to retire and pass on the leadership role to Rev. John Nordeman. As the Pastor, Fr. Nordeman will continue to build up our parish community. It has been a blessing for me to have been your Pastor and part of the Sacred Heart Parish Community. I can’t thank you enough for the support and affirmation I have received from you over my years as Pastor. During that time, I am sure there are parishioners who have disagreed with some of my decisions or the way I handled certain situations. While always trying to be fair, I also know that I made mistakes or poor decisions. If I have offended you in any way or you felt slighted by me, please accept my apology. It wasn’t my intention. Over my time with you, I have baptized your children, married you, married your children, prayed with you in times of mourning and celebrated with you in times of joy. These and other memories will continue to nourish me as I take them to St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Know I am grateful for your loyalty and faithfulness to your Church and parish community. Your faith, through the “ups and downs” of life, has been an inspiration. Your being there for one another in difficult times speaks to your living out the command of Jesus to love one another. Continue to be a community of service in addressing the needs of the sick and suffering and those who mourn. Continue to be conscious of the needy, not only in our parish and neighborhood, but beyond our boundaries. My final year as Pastor has not been what I expected!! My accident in July and the pandemic in March disrupted schedules and plans. Our interaction as a worshiping community left a void in my life and in the lives of those praying with us. Even now as we wear masks and practice social distancing, my ability to say “thanks for the memories” is limited Know I will miss you! I’m not saying “Good-bye!” I hope to see you later without masks and social distancing. Stay safe! Be well! God bless,

Dear Sacred Heart Parishioners,The last six years have been a gift and a blessing to my Priesthood. Being at Sacred Heart taught me what every parish should be: a vibrant community and loving family. You are great Delco people who always supported the Church and her Priests, even through the tough times. The faith is alive, strong and real in Manoa! Working
with the youth, whether as a high school teacher or a CYO basketball coach, gave great hope to me through the years in this crazy world. Our youth have a lot to offer, pray for them that they choose Christ and to not be afraid to live a Christian life. Your Pastor, Fr. McKee was a Pastor, mentor, and friend to me. I am happy I had the privilege to serve and learn from him. We will come back to visit, because this is not a goodbye; it’s a see you later! Know of my continual thoughts and prayers for all of you. Please pray for me as I embark on a new journey at St. Philip Neri in Lafayette Hill. God bless, Fr. Mike
