Dear Friends In Christ, It is with great joy that I come back to Sacred Heart as your new Pastor. Some of you may remember when I was a resident priest (just like Father Mike) from 2004 to 2007. I was a member of the faculty at Cardinal
O'Hara. Speaking of Father Mike, I want to say thank you to him for all of the good work that he did for the parish and for the joy that he always brings to his priestly ministry. I also want to thank Father McKee for his 20 years of dedicated service to Sacred Heart. I first met Father McKee in 1997 when I was in the seminary and he was my supervisor for my field education experience which was at Our Lady of Victory Parish in West Philadelphia. Since that time he has been a mentor and a friend to me. Many of us are familiar with the phrase "if you look up the definition of......you will find a picture of 'so and so' there". What I would say is that if you look up the definition of a Catholic priest who is your pastor, you will find a picture of Father McKee there. All of us have been so blessed by his hard-working, compassionate and courageous way of doing things. May he be blessed abundantly in his retirement. If I may I will, as briefly as possible, tell you a little bit about myself. I am 55 years old and I have been a priest for 19 years. I am the 5th of my parents’ six children. My brothers and sisters still live in the Philadelphia area and I have 19 nieces and nephews and 3 grand nephews. The schools I attended are: Saint William School (Northeast Philadelphia), Cardinal Dougherty High School and Penn State (Degree in Finance). After graduating from Penn State I worked for 7 years in business and discerned the call to the Priesthood during that time. I entered Saint Charles Seminary in 1995 and I was ordained in 2001. My assignments have been both in the education apostolate-Bishop McDevitt, Cardinal O'Hara, Lansdale Catholic, the Newman Center at West Chester University and in parish work at Saint Katherine of Siena (Philadelphia) and Queen of Peace (Ardsley). There have been many challenges, but so many more blessings along the way and I see the opportunity to be your Pastor as a movement of the Holy Spirit. Although I am very sad to leave the Lansdale Catholic community, I have a great sense of contentment and peace in being with all of you at Sacred Heart. At this time, I humbly ask that you pray for me. Be assured that I have already started to do so for you and will continue to do so every day. The Covid-19 restrictions will obviously continue to impact our lives at this time but I will make every effort to meet all of you as soon as I am able.
I conclude with a word from Saint Paul to the Thessolonians 5:16-17,Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks,
for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. Peace,
Father Nordeman
