Gaudete!

The 3rd Sunday of Advent is called Gaudete Sunday. On this day we celebrate that our waiting for the birth of Jesus on Christ-mas is almost over. Rose is a liturgical color that is used to signify Joy - so we light the rose colored candle on the Advent wreath. The day takes its common name from the Latin word Gaudete ("Rejoice"), the first word of the introit of this day's Mass:

“Gaudete in Domino semper: iterum dico, gaudete. Modestia vestra nota sit omnibus hominibus: Dominus enim prope est. Nihil solliciti sitis: sed in omni oratione et obsecratione cum gratiarum actione petitiones vestræ innotescant apud Deum. Benedixisti Domine terram tuam: avertisti captivitatem Jacob.” Translation: “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice. Let your forbearance be known to all, for the Lord is near at hand; have no anxiety about anything, but in all things, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God. Lord, you have blessed your land; you have turned away the captivity of Jacob.” Philippians 4:4-6’ Psalm 85

“With our whole heart, our whole soul, our whole mind, with our whole strength and fortitude, with our whole understanding, with all our powers, with every effort, every affection , every feeling, every desire and wish, let us love the Lord God, Who has given and gives to each one of us our whole body, our whole soul and our whole life, Who has created, redeemed and will save

us by his mercy alone, Who did and does everything good for us.” ~from Advent and Christmas Wisdom, St. Francis of Assisi

A Taste of Heaven Awaits in Eucharistic Adoration “Come Let Us Adore Him”

During this busy Advent Season, if you are tired and overwhelmed by your many duties and responsibilities, if you

are trying to find meaning in life, then come spend some quiet time with our precious Lord Jesus Christ. Abandon yourself to Jesus in this "Sacrament of Love" and He will refresh you! The more time you spend with Jesus, the more you will come away feeling renewed and healed. He is always there waiting for you. Eucharistic Adoration is open to all and is held on Tuesday from 8 am to 6:45 pm and concludes with a 7 pm Mass. We are interested in extending the Adoration hours on Tuesday night for those who are not free to attend Adoration during the day, however, we need volunteers for the evening hours, i.e., 7:30 pm to 10 pm. If you are interested in becoming an adorer, or would like to know more about Eucharistic Adoration, you may con-tact Joann Di Liberto at 610 932 8962 or you may leave your contact information in the steel box in the Narthex, next to the Statue of the Sacred Heart, and Joann will contact you.

Check out our own Archbishop Chaput on FORMED!! In this keynote session from the 2017 FOCUS SEEK Conference, Archbishop Charles Chaput articulates his advice for how Catholics can build bridges to reach people of different ideologies. He warns against being an obstacle to these bridges by indulging in pride, fear, and the noisiness of the culture. Archbishop Chaput equips his listeners with the inspiration, encouragement, and practical advice necessary to take on the work of evangelization in their own families, friend groups, and communities. The session ends with a question-and-answer format in which Archbishop Chaput addresses some of his listeners’ most poignant wonderings.

3 Ways to Have a Mass offered for our Loved Ones

The great prayer of the Church is the Mass in which we celebrate the Real Presence of Christ (Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity) offered to the Father and then Holy Communion with Christ in the Mystical Body of Christ – in Heaven and on Earth. Praying the Mass and offering Masses for our loved ones – living or deceased is a great gift especially for the souls of the faithful departed. An Announced Mass. ($10 offering – 1 Mass). Who/what the Mass is being offered for is announced at Mass and printed in the bulletin. See the 2018 Parish Mass Book in the parish office. An Un-Announced Mass. ($5 offering –1 Mass). This intention is offered by a priest and not announced in a public setting. A priest would offer this Mass in his assignment where there may not be an-nounced Masses. For example in hospital chapels, high schools, retirement villas. The Purgatorial Society. ($25 offering –12 Masses). The Purga-torial Society offers Masses for one year for your loved one, on the first Saturday of the month at 5:00 pm, in the parish. **Call the parish secretary if you are interested in any of the above

options for Masses.
