Elementary School Feasibility Study Final Report
Goals
• The feasibility study identified and analyzed different options available to bridge the gap between existing school facility and what is required to meet the needs of the First Nation community.
• Improve access to quality learning environments for the Saddle Lake Cree Nation students.
• Provide educational facilities that accommodate current and projected enrollments
Goals
• Develop an inviting, culturally relevant environment in which community members are partners in the educational process
• Provide a safe, enabling and nurturing environment for all students regardless of their individual challenges
• Provide a safe working environment for staffs.
• Provide access to a variety of educational opportunities for students and the community.
Deliverables
Review of Existing Site and Condition of Existing School Facility
• description and assessment of existing asset• statement of overall condition of the asset
including health and safety issues• discussion of operational, financial, and
functionality of existing asset• identification of future plans pertaining to the
school being replaced, extended and or renovated
An extensive engagement process developed with Saddle Lake Cree Nation Council, the project team and First nation membership, the needs and priorities of the community, related to the Elementary School. ManascIsaac has met with:
• Onchaminahos School (students and teachers)
• Kihew Asiniy School (students and teachers)• Leadership• Education Board• Health Board • Child Welfare Board
