Our Inclusive Technology System

• To prompt people to hold the handrail when using the stairs for their own safety.

• It incorporates sensors and sensory mats at the top and bottom of the stairs.

• These sensors activate light and sound.• Sends distress messages to the family

member in case of a fall.

Our AimContinued independent living for the elderly.

Greater awareness when using the stairs.

Reduction in accidents/fatalities in the home

For Who?

Persona• Mary lives in Dublin in her two storey

house. • Mary is a widow and lives on her own. • She has two children who are happily

married and living in different areas of Dublin.

• Mary has help from her children when needed.

• Mary’s house has a cosy and warm interior;

• There are carpets throughout the house.• Concerns:-• How would somebody know if I had

fallen?• How quickly could I get help?

• Objectives • Feeling confident about using the stairs.• Knowing that if I did fall down I would

have help on the way.
