For monitoring the vehicle accidents, this connection less system using MEMS accelrrometer and Global Position System for tracking and it will send information through mobile phone message indicating the accident occurance position of vehicle by GPS tracking system to family members and nearest hospital. Abstract

In this paper, mainly identifying the vehicle accidentsusing Wireless system using the GPS tracking system andMEMS accelerometer is developed for accidentalmonitoring.To implement this ,The system mainly consiststhe hard ware kit like the components are anaccelerometer, Raspberry pi, for tracking purpose usingthe GPS device, Ultrasonic sensors and GSM module. Formonitoring the vehicle accidents, this connection lesssystem using MEMS accelrrometer and Global PositionSystem for tracking and it will send information throughmobile phone message indicating the accident occuranceposition of vehicle by GPS tracking system to familymembers and nearest hospital. and speed of the vehicle are used to determine accidentoccurance of real-time. The present system is compact andeasy to install under riders seat. The system has beentested earlier in real applications using bicycles and now ittended its application towards light and heavy weightvehicles. The test results explains that it can detecttilting, vibration and normal ride with high accuracy.

1 INTRODUCTION

The accidents occurring of vehicles is a major identifying problemin many areas, neglecting the awareness programs and do notfollow the rules and regulations of road safety , the problem is stillincreasing. These road accidents occurs mainly due to the ridersbehaviour nothing but speed driving, driving with insufficientsleep and driving the vehicles in drunkstate, etc. The numbers ofaccident cases like death and disabilities are very high because oflate assistance to people who met with an accident or no fastesttreatment provided to them. To reduce the occurance of such typeof accidents, people need to maintain a good safety system.However, good safety device for reducing the accidents to thevehicle is difficult to implement, very expensive to afford andcomplex.

Alternatively, following the intelligence schemes such asaccident occurance place detection of fall or tilt or vibrations withtracking system have also recently been devised to identify theaccident to related the people so that fastest assistance can reachaccident place and who got the accident, this helps to reduce theamount of sufferings.

Wireless system using MEMS accelerometer and GPS trackingsystem is developed for monitoring the accidents.This wirelessdevice will send message to the mobile phone to indicating theposition of vehicle by GPS system to their family members,emergency medical service (EMS) and nearest hospital as an alertof accident occurance, so that they can be assisted for treatment.

2 SYSTEM OVERVIEW

The system in Fig1 consists of components like Vehicle, GPSdevice and GSM module. The MEMS Accelerometer which isinstalled inside the vehicle is used for fall detection or tilt, basedon speed of vehicle and threshold algorithm indicating an accidentin real-time. Mobile short message containing position trackedfrom GPS (latitude,longitude) will be sent to the mobile usingGSM when vehicle accident is detected. The System moduleshown in fig.1 is aimed to be installed under the vehicle seat.

3 EXISTING SYSTEM

In existing System

1. Before we dont have GSM and GPS modules used forassistance.[4]

2. No message for alert.[1]

3. Only tracks the location of vehicle.[2]

4. When accident will be occurred and where it occurs .[3]

5. No Rescue Operation Instantly.[6]

6. Before we have FPGA which could not have complex on boarddevices.

7. Earlier system uses IR sensors which could only detectobstacles in the surroundings.

4 PROPOSED SYSTEM

The proposed system has the following specifications as shownin Fig2:

1. Raspberry-pi The Raspberry Pi is a complex and low cost,small single board computer,less Ithe size of the device islike credit card sized computer thats plug connecting intothe computer or television, using computermonitor,keyboard and mouse. It is capable to device thatenables people to explore computing and learn, understand

computer programming in python language .Rasberry pijust works like an desktop computer that has ability tobrowse through internet.

2. MEMS Accelerometer This is the mechanical system todistinguish the incident will be happen, at whatever pointthe accident will be happen it will recognized and send thatflag to controller board. It is the principle favorable positionto keep the mishap. Mems used to measure changes invibration, inclination and acceleration,all these are donewith the use of microsized devices called gyroscopes andaccelerometers.

3. GPS Detection GPS is a navigation device that receivesinformation from GPS satellites, then calculates thegeographical position of a device. At the point when thesetback will be happen the GPS collector will get thecomparing direction degrees and seconds qualities in light ofthat values we must recognize the relating and preciseincident spots through Google maps and we will achieve iton[6].

4. SMS Operation At the point the accident will be happen theGPS get the direction qualities like latitude and longitudevalues, it will be sent through SMS to the saved mobilenumber .

5. An Ultrasonic sensor is a device that can measure thedistance to an object by using sound waves. It measuresdistance from the time span taken for a wave to reflect backby sending the sound waves of specific frequency to theobjects.The sensor is provided with 2 openings on the front,one for transmitting the waves( tiny microphone) and otherfor receiving the reflected waves(tiny speaker). Theultrasonic sensor is connected to a buzzer that turns on bythe surrounding objects.

5 RESULTS

This type of device arrangement may be tested with a limitednumber of situations of accidents. This scenarios of fall oraccident of vehicles are mainly divided as two groups includingthe fall by themselves and crash by other objects.

The unusual acceleration and tilting of vehicles is detected usingvibration sensor which indicates that vehicle is out of control andcould have suffered an accident, which is analyzed by raspberrypi crossed its threshold values. At this instant, GPS is activatedby the processor and location is traced based on nearest satellite,a short message containing the location of vehicle is sent to thefamily members and emergency service for help to be provided.

The components of the system are connected as shown in fig3and are then programmed in software using python using raspberrypi.

Vehicle fall in any direction due to any improper driving isdetected using the Mems sensor used in the system.Fig 4 showsthe case of mems detected and trace the location by latitude,longitude values and send sms through way 2 sms to predefinednumber.

Tliting or vibration occured in vehicle which may lead to anaccident is detected using vibration sensor used in the system. Fig 5shows the vibration detected, activating the GPS to get the locationof vehicle and sending message through way 2 sms to the predefinednumber.

Ultrasonic sensor in this system is used to measures the distanceof objects, avoid collision with other vehicles or obstacles. If anyobjects nearer to the vehicle they are detected, buzzer will be on.So it will help driver to change the direction.

The mobile number of the family member or emergency serviceshould be included in the software programming in order to receivethe accident location values.Whenever sensors are high ,activatesthe GPS to trace the location and sent through sms to family andmedical services.

Motor stops automatically when mems is detected.one switch isprovided to send a message show in fig 6 we are safe, when thereis no serious injury happen. Due to this we can save the valuabletime of emergency.

6 CONCLUSION

In a critical situation many vehicles faces accident, due to this lotof person lost their lives. Some people can be saved at that time,but because of lack of information, time and place it may not bepossible. Using this concept the accident happened can bedetected with the help of GPS and GSM systems. The victim canbe admitted in the hospital by the ambulance section as soon aspossible by controlling the traffic signals. Therefore this conceptcan provide road safety hence its creates a safe driving for thedriver and give security for the life and property of the public.
