NO ENEMY CAN RAISE AN EYE ON INDIA: YOGI CM was in Shahjahanpur to lay foundation stones of 232 developmental projects First India Bureau
Tuesday: Chief Minis- ter Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said under the able leadership of Prime Minister Naren- dra Modi no enemy has the courage to raise an eye on India and if they do so, the country has enough potential to give them back, that’s the power of Trans- forming India.
“Earlier, whenever rival countries en- croached India, no- body raised a voice. They always ignored it silently for want of maintaining friendly relations with the neighbouring coun- tries, “ he lamented adding ‘Naya Bharat ab dushman agar aankh dikhata hai toh uski aankh hatheli par rakhne ka kaam karta hai’.
The CM was in Shah- jahanpur to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 232 develop-
ment projects worth Rs 500 crores. The CM also unveiled the statue of Seth Bishanchandra in Shahjahanpur.
Attacking the previ- ous government on the law and order situa- tion, the CM comment- ed, “Earlier, there used to be a new riot every third day, now there is peace everywhere. The previous government
withdrew the cases of terrorists who attacked the Shri Ram Janmab- hoomi.”
Taking a dig at the Samajwadi Party gov- ernment, he said that they used to be so afraid of going to Ayo- dhya. Earlier, big events were held only in Saifai. ‘Saifai mein naach gaana hota tha’. Deepotsav is held in
Ayodhya today which clearly shows how UP has changed in these four and a half years.
Speaking about farmers, the CM said that 2017 onwards, farmers’ crops are be- ing purchased direct- ly without any mid- dlemen.
“This time more pad- dy purchasing centers will be set up in the
state ensuring maxi- mum purchase. If there will be any complaints in the procurement, the responsibility will be fixed,” he added.
The CM also ac- cused the previous governments for crim- inalisation of politics and also warned the mafiasos ‘shaanti se raho aur shaanti se rehna seekho’.

Lucknow: The political pot in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh is all set to boil with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading BJP’s campaign blitz- kreig criss-crossing the State from Jhansi to Lucknow inaugurating a slew of projects at least seven times in the next couple of months.
The PM had laid the foundation stone for this expressway in 2018.
PM Modi will start off
the campaign by inau- gurating Purvanchal Expressway on Novem- ber 16. Here it is perti- nent to mention that the Expressway has been realligned so that it cov- ers Ayodhya. On No- vember 19, the PM is ex- pected to be in Jhansi on the birth anniversary of Rani Laxmibai. During this visit, he will be visit- ing the Jhansi Fort and announcing several schemes like the Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal scheme and the Jhansi node of
the Uttar Pradesh de- fence corridor.
From Jhansi, the
Prime Minister may head directly to Luc- know. There he may be
a part of the party con- ference on November 20 which will also be at-
tended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other top brass of
the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Prime Minis- ter will be travelling to Greater Noida on No- vember 25 to lay the foundation stone for the Noida International Airport. The airport project is a prestigious one for Uttar Pradesh.
“With the elections coming up, PM Modi will be visiting the state more often, says a BJP leader adding that he may be travelling too often to the state in December too to unveil multi-crore pro-
jects. These include the laying of the foundation stone of the Ganga Ex- pressway from Meerut to Prayagraj and the unveil- ing of the new All India Institute of Medical Sci- ences in Gorakhpur. An- other project to be un- veiled in December could be inaugurating the Kashi-Vishwanath cor- ridor in Varanasi. The projects are likely to be announced prior to the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct in the state.

Govt took steps to eradicate COW SMUGGLING First India Bureau
Badayun: Addressing a rally in UP’s Badaun, Yogi Adityanath lashed out at the previous SP government for pro- moting illegal slaugh- terhouses and cattle smuggling, the CM re- marked, “Cow smug- gling has always been a major issue in Uttar Pradesh as ‘gau-taskari aur avaidh buchad- khane toh picchli sarka- ro ki pehchan thi’ ( Cat- tle smuggling and ille- gal slaughterhouses were hallmarks of pre- vious govts). We closed illegal slaughterhouses to restrict cattle smug- gling completely.”
Criticising the law and order situation in the state during the previous government, the CM commented that there used to be frequent riots during
the festivals, curfew used to be imposed and people could not cele- brate festivals.
Now, no riots took place in UP in the last four and a half years. The situation has changed. Be it Diwali, Dhanteras, Govardhan Puja or Bhaiya Dooj, it was celebrated in every district of the state in a
peaceful manner and with gaiety, said the CM in his address.
Before 2017, even though there was no co- rona, there was curfew, ‘aastha par kuthara- ghat hota tha’. And at the same time, if some- one raised his voice against these rioters, false cases were filed against him, he added
CM Yogi was in Badayun to launch a slew of developmental projects. He also distributed keys to benefi ciaries of PMAY-U on the occasion.

The trial run of ‘Kanpur Metro’ was scheduled in mid-No- vember but has been preponed adding a new chapter in the urban transport of the state. CM Yogi will press the button to begin the tri- als of the Metro train which will not only help in establishing seamless connectivity and will ease vehicular congestion across the city but will also give a major boost to the de- velopment of the re- gion. In addition, the Metro services will aid in improving the facili- ties and will end the day-to-day struggles of the common man. During the event of the trial run, the Chief Minister will also have a look at the Kanpur Metro and will inspect the facilities available in the metro coaches as well as the arrange- ments for the plat- forms. The construc- tion work of the Kan- pur Metro Rail Project was initiated by the
Yogi-led government on November 15, 2019. In a record itself, de- spite the covid-19 out- break, the construc- tion of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project has been completed in less than a span of two years.
In the first phase, Metro will run on the nine-kilometre priori- ty corridor.
Nine Metro stations have been constructed so far. The second phase of Metro work would be carried out between Motijheel and Trans- port Nagar for which underground stations will be constructed.

ment at the centre and in state had pushed hard-earned money of poor people in the pock- ets of rich and industri- alists. He said those who want to become part of the fight of Rahul Gan- dhi and Priyanka Gan- dhi against the prevail- ing situation should join the campaign.

Varanasi/Lucknow: When Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a cruise on the Ganges in Kashi on the last Dev Deepawali, he had tak- en a vow to rid the Gan- ges from the toxic smoke and noise of diesel-powered boats. With the reins of Uttar Pradesh in the hands of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, work on this ambitious project was hence just a matter
of time and took off immediately.
UP government has taken up a target to run about 500 CNG motor- boats in the Ganges till Dev Deepawali on No- vember 19. In the com- ing time, there is a plan to run 100 per cent boats in Ganga on CNG. With this, the holy Mok- shadayini Ganga will be the first river in the world, where CNG based boats will run on such a large scale.
Tourists visit the re-
ligious city of Kashi, do boating in the Ganges, see the buildings, tem-
ple-monasteries stand- ing for centuries on the banks of the crescent-
shaped ghats. Now the tourists coming here are going to get free-
dom from the poison- ous smoke and loud sound of the boat while
enjoying boat rides in the Ganges.
A plan for a floating CNG station in Ganga is also on the anvil. With this, CNG can also be filled in the middle of the Ganges during boat- ing. Smart City GM, D Vasudevam said about 1,700 small and big boats plied in the Ganges. Of these, about 500 boats were going to run on die- sel engines.
About 177 boats have been fitted with CNG en- gines. The target is to
run the remaining mo- torboats with CNG en- gines till Dev Deepawa- li. This work is being done by GAIL India un- der Corporate Social Re- sponsibility. CNG en- gines are being installed in 1,700 small and big boats with a budget of about Rs 29 crore.
A free CNG kit is be- ing installed in the boats. Suman Kumar Rai, Project Manager of Smart City said diesel engines will be with- drawn from boats.
Come Dev Deepawali, and Ganga will be freed of diesel pollution GREEN VOYAGE
POLLUTION-FREE, LESS NOISE, CNG A WIN-WIN FOR ALL Sailors say that they are covering twice the dis- tance with a CNG engine at half the cost. Tourists are also feeling good due to no smoke and loud noise. The CNG-based engine reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 7 to 11 per cent compared to diesel and petrol engines. The loud noise of diesel engine has a bad effect on humans as well as aquatic animals. Along with this, the historical heritage standing on the banks of the Ghat for thousands of years was also getting damaged.

HEALTH CARE IN AMERICA IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD
here is an aphorism that all budding en- trepreneurs and griz- zled veterans alike come to intimately
understand: the market never lies. Americans have among the lowest life expectancy of high- income countries — 77.3 years versus Switzerland, for exam- ple, at 83.2 years. The adult chronic disease burden stands at 24.6% of the population, com- pared to an average of 18% across these same countries. Obesity defined as a BMI of 30 or more is at a staggering 40% in the United States, compared to an average of 21% in the group.
Yet over a million people travel to the US every year for their med- ical care, including heads of state, the wealthy and elite, who presum- ably could have received care in their home country or anywhere else in the world. The numbers cited above do not even include the millions who are cared for by the international satellite campuses of the Mayo Clinic, Cornell, Har- vard and Johns Hopkins systems, to name just a few, that have been established to bring American health care to the rest of the world.

ustralia may be leading the world in measures to protect public in- terest journalism
from the threats arising from media restructuring and news aggregators such as Google and Facebook, but it has yet to properly address the related need for firm pro- fessional standards.
At the moment the Austral- ian Press Council deals with complaints about the print and online content of the newspapers, magazines and journals that fund it.
Among those publishers are the two biggest: Nine and News Corp. Other big pub- lishers are not or cannot be members, among them Guardian Australia, The
Conversation and the ABC.
THERE HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTS TO LIFT STANDARDS The government’s Finkelstein Review recommended a gov- ernment-funded statutory body take over the role and functions of the Australian Press Council and the news-related functions
of the Communications and Media Authority.
THE GOVERNMENT IS INCHING TOWARDS MORE The government has raised the possibility of trying again, its green paper last year on broadcasting promising to “implement a staged program of reform towards ‘platform neutral’ media regulation”.
HERE’S HOW BETTER REGULATION COULD WORK The Council has its critics, whether related to slowness in handling complaints (a le- gitimate concern) or seeming insufficiently independent or insufficiently (or overly) crit- ical of the work it examines. But its work is important. SOURCE: THE CONVERSATION

POST BYPOLL, TMC EMERGES STRONGER, CONG DECIMATED, LEFT… LEFT ASIDE
he bypolls are over and even as it is a known fact that the ruling party makes the best out of the bypoll results… a close look at how the ruling party fared in these bypolls would certainly paint an ex- tremely dismal picture of the Opposition in West Bengal.
TMC on November 2 made a clean sweep in the Assem- bly bypolls after it won in all the four seats.
Even as TMC secured land- slide victories in these elec- tions, one constant factor that needs to be acknowledged is that the BJP remained as the main Opposition even as the saffron party saw how they “dropped” the Shantipur and Dinhata catches.
POINTS TO BE NOTED TMC is growing stronger by the day: Despite the fact that the BJP had pressed into service all its stalwarts for the Assembly polls earlier this year… the May 2, 2021 outcome script went horribly awry for the saffron party while Mamata Banerjee had the last laugh. After the mas- sive win against the BJP, it
was evident that TMC would shift its focus pan-India. However, this did not mean that the TMC would loosen its connect over West Bengal and take the bypolls lightly.
In the state Assembly polls held in March-April this year, the TMC received 48 per cent vote share. In the Bha- wanipore Assembly bypoll on September 30, Mamata garnered 71.9 per cent votes and the party bagged a total 60.2 per cent votes in the elec- tion at Samserganj and Jan- gipur seats held on the very same day.
In the November 2 victory in all the four bypolls, the TMC logged in a major 75 per cent combined vote share. With this, the party now has a strength of 217 MLAs in the House.
Moreover, the party en- joyed straight drive wins with record differences. Udayan Guha won the Din- hata seat in Cooch Behar dis- trict by 1,64,089 votes. In Go- saba, Subrata Mondal of the TMC was triumphant by a winning margin of 1,43,051 votes. In Khardah, Sovandeb Chattopadhyay won by a mar- gin of 93,832 votes. It may be noted that Sovandeb had giv- en up his Bhawanipore seat for Mamata. TMC nominee from Shantipur, Braja Kishor Goswami managed to win by a margin of 64,675 votes. BJP not getting the grasp?: Even as the BJP has come up
to become the main Opposi- tion to the TMC in the earlier held crucial Assembly polls… the saffron party has, it seems, lost quite a bit of steam. Even as it failed to win any of the four (Assem- bly) seats, the party lost both Dinhata and Santipur seats. Moreover, to add to their woes… BJP party candidates even lost their deposits in Dinhata, Gosaba and even in Khardah constituencies.
During the Assembly polls earlier this year, BJP’s vote share was pegged at 38 per cent. In Bhawanipore bypoll, the BJP’s vote share dipped to 22.3 per cent. In Samser- ganj and Jangipur Assembly elections, the combined vote share of BJP was 14.2 per cent. However, in the bypolls, the party’s combined vote share stood at 14.5 per cent.
It may be noted that the
party lost five of its “sulking” MLAs to the TMC since the Assembly polls were over. BJP MLAs who are now in the TMC are Tanmoy Ghosh, Mukul Roy, Biswajit Das, Krishna Kalyani and Soumen Roy. They have not yet re- signed from their posts and the unofficial tally of the BJP in the House is now 70, down from 77. Going by the trend and with the current election scenario… grapevine has it that more defections are likely. Congress ‘deleted’, Left is out of focus but in frame: Although the party contested only one seat out of the four, the Congress candidate in Shantipur managed to get just a meagre 1.41 per cent votes and was slightly better that 0.92 per cent that is what the NOTA got. Poll panel data reveals that the Congress ended up doing worse than NOTA. While it clocked only 0.37 per cent votes, NOTA bagged 1.07 per cent.
This will give the TMC an upper hand in case the Grand Old Party has a poll alliance with TMC in the larger con- text for Lok Sabha, it won’t be difficult for the TMC to garm- er a lion’s share. However, let’s look at the Left... LF did better and logged in 8.5 per cent votes, up from the 4.7 % it re- ceived during the state Assem- bly polls earlier this year.

POST BYPOLL VICTORIES, CAN CONGRESS PRESENT ONE-ON-ONE CHALLENGE TO BJP? Anita Hada
New Delhi: With the re- sults of by- elections to three Lok Sabha and 30 assem- bly seats in t h i r t e e n states and union territo- ries falling large- ly in Congress' fa- vour, grand old party has witnessed a huge change in momentum towards itself. Earlier in face-to-face battles, Bharatiya Ja- nata Party has often won, but this time Con- gress has won and that too with a huge margin. Barring one state - As- sam - Congress has won by a huge margin and where it has lost, there has been a tough fight.
Even though during the seven years of Nar- endra Modi's rule, the opposition parties have
been winning in the by- elections, but this time the Congress is consid- ering its victory 'spe-
cial' and showing the strength of a one-on- one fight with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Keep in mind that earlier the Congress used to lose in one-on- one battles while BJP
considered it its strength that it
had to fight the C o n g r e s s .
But this time in the b y - e l e c - tion, the Cong ress has defeat-
ed the B h a r a t i y a
Janata Party- by a big margin
or has lost by a very small margin in a one- on-one fight. It is being told that there is a lot of enthusiasm in the Con- gress high command about this.
Congress leaders have presented this re- port in front of the par- ty, after which both Ra- hul Gandhi and Priyan- ka Gandhi Vadra have tightened their stance against the Bharatiya Janata Party.
RAJASTHAN MADHYA PRADESH Congress won both the seats in Rajasthan, where Congress got
37.51 percent votes and BJP 18.80 percent. In this way, the
BJP’s voting was half that of the Congress party.
In MP, BJP won one Lok Sabha and two Assembly seats and Congress won one assembly seat. There the BJP got 47.58 percent of the votes and the Congress got 45.55 percent.
MAHARASHTRA HIMACHAL PRADESH When the Congress won the only assembly seat in Maharashtra, it
got 57.03 percent votes, while the BJP got 35.06 percent. That is, the differ-
ence there was 22 percent of the vote.
In HP, the party won one LS & all three assembly seats. In these four seats, Congress got 48.90 percent of the votes, while BJP got only 28.05 per- cent. There was a difference of 20 percent votes.
According to sources, the recent strategy of Congress is to remain
aggressive against BJP and present itself as a better alternative to saffron party. It is also being said that Con-
gress is toying with the idea of going ahead alone for the time being. As per highly placed sources in Cong, party’s strategy has been changed after by-polls. The results of by-polls
in states like WB, AP, Bihar, Telan- gana etc. have worried Congress, after which efforts will be made to improve coordination with allies or find new allies in these states.

Justice Rekha Palli asked the Centre to take instructions and listed the matter for further hearing on No- vember 12. COURT SENDS NCB WITNESS KIRAN GOSAVI TO JUDICIAL CUSTODY IN CHEATING CASE
New Delhi: The Delhi HC on Tuesday said it will hear on January 11 a plea challenging the restriction on married individuals being considered for JAG department, the legal arm of the army. New Delhi: Five years have passed since de- monetisation. On No- vember 8, 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while address- ing the nation at eight o’clock in the night, said that the notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 will cease to be legal ten- der. After that, for sev- eral months, PM him- self and his ministers kept explaining to the country that this has been done to eliminate black money.
When there was no sign of ending black money, it was said that
this masterstroke was done by the PM to make a cashless economy. Since then, it is being publicized that how digital transactions have taken over the role in India. There is no doubt that digital trans- actions have increased
but at the same time people’s dependence on cash has become more than ever.
Five years after de- monetisation in India, cash has become about 60 percent more than before demonetisation. According to the defini-
tion of RBI, having cash in the hands of the pub- lic means that if we sort out the cash of the banks from the curren- cy in circulation minus cash in banks i.e. total liquidity, then what is left is the cash in the hands of the people and
it is Rs 28 lakh crore. It is believed that the co- rona virus has also in- creased people’s confi- dence in cash. However, the amount of cash to GDP ratio in India was always 10 to 12 per cent, which is now going to increase to 14 per cent.
5 YEARS SINCE DEMONETISATION, MORE CASH AVAILABLE TO INDIANS THAN EVER!

New Delhi: After in- creasing it nine times in three years, the cen- tral government has reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel once. And within hours of the Central govern- ment’s move, leaders of BJP started pressuriz- ing the opposition-ruled states to reduce their VAT or local tax. In Del- hi, BJP leaders also demonstrated in front of CM Arvind Kejri-
wal’s house. Opposition leaders
do not want central govt and the BJP to get all the credit for the reduc- tion in the price of pet- rol and diesel and that is why they have with- held the decision in
their respective states. An opposition leader says that now if they reduce VAT, the price of petrol and diesel will come down further but the credit will go to the BJP. That’s why the op- position parties are
waiting for the matter to cool down, after which they will cut down VAT and take full credit. The state govts of BJP and its allies have no such need, so they have reduced their local taxes immediately. Rest of states will wait for a while and reduce their local taxes. Keep in mind that the biggest source of revenue with the state govts is the tax on petroleum products, so they are not in a posi- tion to give much relief.
States with opposition rule will also reduce VAT, but no major relief expected!
VAT has been reduced in many places even in the states ruled by the opposition, but there are about a
dozen states that have not reduced VAT and it is said that in the coming days, VAT will also be
reduced in these states.

PREPARATION FOR KARTIK PURNIMA FAIR DELAYED
With less than 10 days left for the famous Kartik Purnima
fair, the Rae Bareilly administration is yet to wake from its sleep as the preparations for the mega fair that hosts lakhs of devotees haven’t started yet. Despite the fair having been accorded the state title, the administration continues to neglect the required arrangements. In a meeting that took place more than a month ago, a blueprint was asked to be prepared by the Nagar Nigam & administrative offi cials but nothing has been submitted
yet. One of the major issues that need attention is that of the drinking water facility for pilgrims. About 30 hand pumps installed within the Mela region lie defunct,
also the sewage hasn’t been taken care of. The irony is that offi cials at the level of district magistrate and SDMs have been taking several rounds of meetings but

The astrologer suggested to the offi cer that if he wants the desire for transfer to be fulfi lled, then he will have to
feed monkeys and cows and then only, his wish for the transfer will come true. The offi cer desperately wishing for transfer was seen feeding monkeys hoping that he will get transferred soon and now, whenever people ask him about his transfer, he says that he will get the transfer order soon.

NOW BJP MAKING HECTIC EFFORTS TO RETAIN GROUND IN WEST UP
RE-CONSOLIDATING CASTE-COMBINATION
First India Bureau
Lucknow: With on-go- ing farmers agitation all eyes are now fixed in vast western UP where Jat community which is in a politically dominant position. The region is likely to witness tough electoral battle in 2022 assembly election. With farmers on the warpath against central govern- ment’s farm laws for the last one year and com- munal harmony being restored, there appears to be a churning in the Jat-dominated politics in west UP.
However, the BJP has been trying to retain ground by re-consoli- dating caste combina- tion. It may be recalled that after the break- down of MAJGAR (Muslim, Ahir, Jat, Guj- jar and Rajput) under the onslaught of Ram Temple movement in 1991, the Jat communi- ty had started gravitat- ing towards the BJP.
Former prime minis- ter Chaudhury Charan Singh, who was of Jat ancestry, taking inspi- ration from pre-inde-
pendence Jat leader Sir Chotu Ram (1881-1945) of Haryana, had formu- lated AJGAR (Ahir-Ya- dav, Jat and Rajput) to widen his political base. Later he added Muslims to make it MAJGAR and thereafter the Chaudhury’s family ruled the roost for many years. However, rise of Hindutav forces with Ram temple movement in 1991 uprooted this caste alliance with Jat community switching sides among various po-
litical parties including Rashtriya Lok Dal, SP, BSP and BJP over the years. The RLD chief Chaudhury Ajit Singh’s experiment of Jat-Mus- lim combination also collapsed after the worst communal riots riot of Muzaffarnagar in 2013. During the last three years (2014, 2017, 2019) the BJP has been on winning spree in west UP. It swept west UP with more than 50 per cent vote in 2017.
Again in 2019 when
the grand alliance of SP-RLD-BSP failed to evoke response from the Jat community the BJP bagged 91 per cent vote of the community. In all the three previous elections hatred and animosity of Jats against Muslims after 2013 riots played key role in the decisive vic- tory of BJP.
In Western UP Jat population is around 17% and they are spread over in 120 assembly seg- ments in the region in- cluding parts of Barielly and Agra divisions. Their role is quite sig- nificant on at least 50 seats. There are 14 Jat MLAs in UP assembly and except one all of them are from BJP. The BJP has thus been try- ing to avoid any trouble in 2022 assembly elec- tions and also continue hold for 2024 parliamen- tary elections. Of the total 71 assembly seats in three divisions- Meerut, Saharanpur and Moradabad- the BJP had won 51 seats and eight MLCs. It has seven Lok Sabha members and four in Rajya Sabha.
Kisan Mahapanchayat in Lko on Nov 22: Tikait
Ghaziabad: Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Tuesday said the protest against the Centre’s 3 farm laws will be intensified in the Purvanchal region, which comprises parts of eastern UP & west- ern Bihar. He said a ‘Kisan Mahapanchay- at’ will be held in Luc- know on November 22, four days ahead of the anti-farm law protest at Delhi borders complet- ing one year.
The BKU is part of the farmers collective Samyukta Kisan Mor- cha (SKM), which is spearheading the cam-
paign, particularly the demonstrations at Del- hi’s three border points of Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur since Novem- ber 2020.
“The Kisan Ma- hapanchayat on No- vember 22 to be held in Lucknow will be his- toric. This Mahapan- chayat of the SKM will prove to be the last nail in the coffin of the anti- farmer government and the 3 black laws. Now the movement of ‘Annadata’ (food pro- viders) will intensify even in Purvanchal,” Tikait, national spokes- person of the BKU, tweeted in Hindi. —PTI

RE-ENERGISING JAT-MUSLIM COMBO The RLD-SP alliance has been making efforts to re-energise Jat-Muslim combination to gain lost ground in the region. Tikait is closely working with Jats in Haryana.

PARTIES INVADE EACH OTHERS’ DEN TO GAUGE VOTER SENTIMENTS CM attacks SP at its bastion in Etawah, while Priyanka plays Hindudtva card in Varanasi
Akhilesh is set to kickstart Samajwadi Vijay Yatra from Yogi’s home town Gorakhpur
Gyanendra Kumar Shukla
Lucknow: The elector- al battle of Uttar Pradesh has started getting fierce, political warriors are now chal- lenging each other by registering presence in their strongholds. On November 6, Chief Minister Yogi Aditya- nath reached Etawah, the bastion of the Sam- ajwadi Party. While ad- dressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of the district jail, the CM targeted the SP, re- ferring to the firing on the kar sevaks in Ayod- hya, took a jibe at Akh- ilesh, he said, “Babua, ye Twitter hi vote bhi de dega (This twitter will give you votes).” Targeting Akhilesh Ya- dav indirectly, Yogi said that some people of this Etawah had opposed the corona vaccine.
Last month, Con- gress general secretary
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Varanasi, the parliamentary constit- uency of PM Narendra Modi. While addressing a rally she invoked God- dess Durga and started her speech with a stuti (prayer). Obviously, the Congress leader was
seen adopting the style of soft Hindutva to challenge the Saffron party in its stronghold.
Recently, Priyanka has visited Gorakhpur, CM Yogi Adityanath’s home town, to attend ‘Pratigya Rally’ of Con- gress party. While ad-
dressing the rally she hits out at the ruling party. She accused the CM of running the gov- ernment contrary to the beliefs and teach- ings of Guru Gora- khnath.
According to politi- cal analyst Vikrant
Dubey, reaching the strongholds of opposi- tion leaders is a deftly planned election strate- gy of political leaders. It creates pressure on the opposition and boosts the morale of the cadre of their own party. However, Akh- ilesh Yadav will kick off the third phase of ‘Samajwadi Vijay Ya- tra’ on November 13 from Gorakhpur, the stronghold of CM Yogi Adityanath. This Rath Yatra will go from Gor- akhpur to Kushinagar. During this, Akhilesh is sure to make a scath- ing attack on the BJP and the Yogi govern-
ment. Union Home Minis-
ter Amit Shah will like- ly be present in Azamgarh, the parlia- mentary constituency of Akhilesh Yadav, on November 13. Here he will lay the foundation stone of a university as well as blow the bugle of BJP’s election cam- paign. It is believed that during this visit, the SP camp will be especially on target in Shah’s ad- dress. According to sources, preparations are being made to orga- nize a big election rally of BJP soon in Rae Bareli, the only strong- hold of Congress.
First India Bureau
New Delhi: With Uttar Pradesh Elections 2022 inching closer, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minis- ter Amit Shah will be BJP’s star campaigners for the polls. The saffron party has decided that the PM will be holding 4 mega rallies to influ- ence the voters. Not only the political rallies, but PM Modi is also set to either launch or inaugu-
rate state and Central projects worth over Rs 1-lakh crore in Novem- ber. Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the poll-bound state five times in the month of November.
The PM will inaugu- rate Jewar Internation- al Airport in Noida on November 25 which is likely to be commis- sioned by 2024. A trip by PM Modi to Jhansi is also on the cards on No- vember 19, on the occa-
sion of the 193rd birth anniversary of Rani Lakshmi Bai, which will
be a part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme celebrating
75 years of India’s inde- pendence. PM is also scheduled to unveil a
number of development projects and attend a public meeting at Jhan- si fort. PM may attend the annual DGPs/IGPs conference along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on November 20 or 21 for organised by the Intelligence Bureau. Won’t do ‘chunavi samjhauta’ with any party, says Maya First India Bureau
Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Tuesday made it clear that her party will not stitch a poll alliance or do a “chunavi samjhauta” with any party and contest the UP assem- bly election slated to be held in 2022 on its own.
“We’re entering into agreement with people of all sections of society to bring them together — this alliance is perma- nent. Don’t intend to enter into alliance with any party,” said Mayawati while ad- dressing a press con- ference in Lucknow.
The BSP chief then took a swipe at the Congress and the Sa- majwadi Party, say- ing people will not trust several poll promises made by two parties.
“Had Congress ful- filled even 50% of their poll promises they wouldn’t have
been out of power at the Centre, UP & in most of the states of the nation,” Mayawa- ti said, intensifying her attack against the Congress.
Ahead of the up- coming UP polls, the rival parties and the BJP have begun their “drama” to “lure” people of the state, Mayawati claimed. “The truth is that BJP govt’s, at the Centre & state, an- nouncement of proj- ects & inauguration of incomplete works in last 1.5-2 months will continue until polls,” she said.
The BSP chief said SP and BJP both par- ties rely on ‘Hin- du-Muslim’ politics to get votes.
‘SP will sit on dharna against EC’ First India Bureau
Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said his party may go on a sit- in against the Election Commission if it does not provide them the draft voters list before the final publication ahead of the 2022 assem- bly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
The final electoral roll will be published on January 5 next year by the poll body and the SP
wants the draft list to be given immediately. “In the electoral rolls, 21,56,262 names were added and 16,42,756
names were removed. The EC used to issue a list of voters after addi- tion and deletion of names. We don’t know
under whose pressure the EC is not providing the list this time around. As a political party, we want to know whose
name is added or deleted but we have not got any information,” he said.
“We have made a com- plaint regarding this. Our senior leaders had given a memorandum to the EC. If needed, SP will sit on dharna against the EC,” he add- ed. “Till 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the electoral roll was provided to political parties. Why is it not giv- en this time? Why are we not provided the up- dated list of voters?” he said.

BJP’s 5-point armour to tackle 3 major issues Vishal Srivastava
Lucknow: A common feedback, from the five poll-bound states to the BJP senior cadre in New Delhi has been conveyed. The key threat to the par- ty in power in most states remain the three common factors vis in- flation, employment & covid-19 related issues.
However, the state BJP unit is all geared up to take on these issues with a five-point strate- gy. Firstly, the party has asked all its MPs and MLAs to devote more time in their constituen- cies. The ministers of the state where BJP is at the helm have also been asked to focus on their assembly constituen- cies, a BJP source said.
Secondly, the party has made plans to focus more on youth and wom- en. The BJP in UP has plans to majorly focus on women’s issues and their participation in order to counter Priyanka Gand- hi-led Congress in the state who will field 40%
women candidates. Thirdly, the party is all
prepared to deal heavy blow to the opposition by catching them off guard on various fronts includ- ing controversies sur- rounding them. For this the party has formed a team of those who can decode various state- ments of the opposition.
Further, the party, in order to boost its strength at the booth lev- el, has started the work of having more than 3 crore ‘Panna Pramukhs’ whose work will be to create a voter list of 30 voters at least. Lastly, the party will work closely with the Sangh. The Sangh also provides a strong base and blue- print for the BJP owing to its strong grip at the grassroots level.

The accused Amar Mani and his wife were given life sentence but have spent most of their time in a Gorakhpur hospital instead of the jail. I have proof to show that they face no restrictions in the hospital and move around freely, meeting people every day,” Nidhi said,
She said her life has been destroyed because of this case and she has not been able to make a career. “I know that my battle has not ended and now I want to con- test elections and be- come an MLA so that I
can take up the matter in inside the Assembly,” she added.
Nidhi Shukla’s sister Madhumita Shukla was shot dead in May 2003 in Lucknow at the behest of the then UP minister Amar Mani Tripathi. A post-mortem report had revealed that Madhumi- ta was pregnant at the time of her death. The murder case had hit the headlines as Amar Mani was a powerful and influential political leader in the state. The sensational murder case was investigated by the CBI that nailed Amar Mani Tripathi, his wife Madhu Mani Tripathi and nephew Rohit Chaturvedi.
The three were award- ed life sentence by the special court in Dehra- dun in 2007 and the Nainital High Court up- held the verdict in 2012. Amar Mani and his wife were subsequently transferred to Gorakh- pur jail on request where they are serving their life term. Recently, Mani moved an applica- tion, seeking parole on the ground that he had already served more than a decade in jail.
Incidentally, Amar Mani Tripathi’s’ son Aman Mani Tripathi is also an independent MLA from Nautanwa and is also accused of killing his wife Sara Singh in 2015.
