You shop. Amazon gives.
• Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your
eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the char-
itable organization of your choice.
• AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you
know. Same products, same prices, same

• Support your charitable organization by
starting your shopping at smile.amazon.com
Do you plan to use Amazon to shop online?
AmazonSmile is a program that donates 0.5%
of your purchases to a charity of your
choice. Why not choose your parish of St. Alo-
ysius? Simply go to http://smile.amazon.com/,
search for “St. Aloysius Roman Catholic
Church”, (calwell) and choose our name. It’s a
one-time setup that applies to all eligible future
purchases with no additional cost to you! You
may think that 0.5% doesn’t sound like much
but if hundreds of shoppers in the parish sign
up, donations will add up quickly! If you’re
shopping anyway, this is just one more way to
keep your parish in mind during this charitable
season and all year long. Thank you in advance
for your support!
Dear Parishioner,
When we celebrate the various great seasons of the
Church year, such as Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter, it
is easy to choose the hymns for the celebration of Mass.
We are now in the season called “Ordinary Time”. This
simply means the Sundays are called by numbers such as
today being called the “Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary
Time”. It becomes a little more complicated to choose the
music for this season.
However, starting today and for the next few Sun-
days there is a common theme that joins them together.
The story of Christ feeding the great multitudes is found in
all four Gospel Accounts. The more popular version of
Christ teaching and feeding the crowds is given in Gospel
account written by John. In theological circles this is called
“Bread of Life” discourse.
This common theme influences directly the choice
of hymns for these Sundays. We enter into the Liturgy
singing “As We Gather at your Table” - setting the idea of a
meal. At the Preparation of gifts we sing about charity and
love. During the Communion Procession we sing “Bread of
Life”.
All of these hymns help us to understand St. John’s
recording of Christ’s teaching when Christ says “ I am the
Bread of Life”.

RE: Roseland Compressor
Expansion Project
Dear Friends:
William Transco, a major fossil
fuel corporation, has a large gas
pipeline infrastructure project
proposed in Roseland, just west of
the Essex County Environmental Center called the
Gateway Expansion Project. There are numerous
concerns for public health and safety related to natural
gas. Natural gas can be released during construction
and under normal operations of the station. There are
legitimate concerns of accidental, uncontrolled release
as well. The areas potentially impacted by the health
and safety concerns of this project are Caldwell and the
surrounding towns.
In order to better inform the residents who may be
impacted, a public hearing on the water quality permit
for the Gateway Expansion has been scheduled for
Tuesday, August 7th, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the West Essex
Regional High School, located at 65 W. Greenbrook
Road in North Caldwell, NJ
