Let Us Pray For The Sick

People will remain on sick list for 2 weeks unless

otherwise notified:

Meghan Connaughton, Jimmy Harper, Ema Oda, Hay-dee Castillo, Angelina Giacaline, Faith McCauley, Marie Portelli, Michael Panas, Anthony Biggio, Mi-yuki Campbell, Salomon Rios, Isabel Gonzalez, Sammy DeLeon, Julieta Cernero, June Gittins, Roy Maglori, Shane Quinn, Alice Daly, Sadie Krieger, Madeline Gerrity, Emilie Jaworowski, Dolores Del-Monte, Bill Waddleton Sr., Dianne O’Sullivan, Carl

Carlson, Carol Jordan, Larry Bello, Nick Manente

Special Announcement

Over the past few weeks, the number of people on the list of

the sick has grown. Last Sunday there were 30. Everyone

who requests to be on the list, should be included, but we can

only accommodate so many names during the Prayers of the

Faithful, before it begins to draw attention to itself for the

wrong reasons. With this in mind, the prayer for the sick will

be prayed without the reading of individual names; those will

continue to be published in the bulletin, and, unless otherwise

notified, will remain on that list for 2 weeks.

Outreach to the sick and the infirm was an important part of

Jesus' ministry on earth, and so it is for all the baptized; we

visit, we comfort, we pray for the sick, especially when we

gather as Church on Sundays.

Fighting FraudFighting FraudFighting FraudFighting Fraud

Many of us are very trusting souls. In-deed, a substantial part of human in-teraction involves trust. Many people act with good will, but there are always a few who have devious intentions. Na-

tional Fraud Awareness Week (August 1-7) was desig-nated to remind people that it is important to protect essential information from those who would want to use it for their own benefit. Scams are an attempt to gain money or some other goods by falsely representing a situation. One common one involves a person pre-tending to be a grandchild in trouble who calls asking to be wired money in a distant country. Never be too quick to wire money without checking with someone. Another common type of fraud is the appearance of extra charges on an online purchase. Always double check a credit card statement to make sure you are only paying for what you ordered. Never give out your Social Security number or birth date to someone who calls you. Always protect these important parts of your identity. The best way to fight fraud is to be aware that it exists, and to be ready to contact authorities if you

suspect that it is occurring.
