WE WELCOME to the parishMonica Anne Pouss

newly baptised in Christ on Sunday, August 9.

News • Announcements • EventsHELP LOURDESHOUSE THIS WEEKEND!It’s been hard not being able to give to others as directly as we usually do through parish drives and item collections. But we do have a chance this weekend!

Lourdeshouse is the Catholic Charities home for women who have no family support, including homeless women or women coming out of prison. Women can come anytime during their pregnancy and stay a total of eight months at Lourdeshouse. Mothers and infants continue to receive support through the baby’s first year. This weekend, August 15-16, before and after Masses, we will be collecting the following items in a no-contact drop-off in the parking lot:

• Paper plates (PLEASE, NO STYROFOAM)• Paper bowls• Toilet paper• Paper towels• Plastic cups• Plastic forks/spoonsThank you for your generosity!

DONATIONS NEEDED Interfaith Shelter for Homeless Families (a Catholic Charities residential program in suburban Harrisburg) is in need of the following donations: copy/printer paper, cleaning supplies (Pine Sol, Comet, Mr. Clean, Scrubbing Bubbles), paper products (plates, napkins, bowls, utensils, cups--hot or cold), paper towels, and toilet paper. Donations can be taken to the Diocesan Center (4800 Union Deposit Road in Harrisburg) or call the shelter at 717-652-8740 to arrange a delivery. Thank you!

CHANGE IN CONFESSION TIMES Now that Father Eseke is back with us, we will be offering the sacrament of Confession in cars under the portico (unless weather requires us to move indoors to The Upper Room) on Tuesday mornings at 11 am and Thursday afternoons at 5:30 pm. We hope the swtich in times will be more convenient for those seeking the comforting grace of this wonderful sacrament.

A READING FROM THE BOOK OF THE PROPHET ISAIAH Isaiah 56:1, 6-7Thus says the LORD:Observe what is right, do what is just;for my salvation is about to come,my justice, about to be revealed.

The foreigners who join themselves to the LORD,ministering to him, loving the name of the LORD,and becoming his servants—

all who keep the sabbath free from profanationand hold to my covenant, them I will bring to my holy mountainand make joyful in my house of prayer;their burnt offerings and sacrificeswill be acceptable on my altar, for my house shall be calleda house of prayer for all peoples.

Liturgy of the Word

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 67:2-3, 5, 6, 8

(R.) O God, let all the nations praise you!

May God have pity on us and bless us;may he let his face shine upon us.So may your way be known upon earth;among all nations, your salvation.

(R.) O God, let all the nations praise you!

May the nations be glad and exultbecause you rule the peoples in equity;the nations on the earth you guide.

(R.) O God, let all the nations praise you!

May the peoples praise you, O God;may all the peoples praise you!May God bless us,and may all the ends of the earth fear him!

(R.) O God, let all the nations praise you!

A READING FROM THE LETTER OF SAINT PAUL TO THE ROMANSBrothers and sisters:I am speaking to you Gentiles.Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles,I glory in my ministry in order to make my race jealousand thus save some of them. For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.

Just as you once disobeyed Godbut have now received mercybecause of their disobedience,so they have now disobeyed in order that,by virtue of the mercy shown to you, they too may now receive mercy. For God delivered all to disobedience, that he might have mercy upon all.

Romans 11:13-15, 29-32

Order of the MassA READING FROM THE HOLY GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW Matthew 15:21-28

At that time, Jesus withdrew to the regionof Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman of that districtcame and called out,“Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon.”But Jesus did not say a word in answer to her.Jesus’ disciples came and asked him,“Send her away, for she keeps calling out after us.”He said in reply,“I was sent only to the lost sheepof the house of Israel.”

But the woman came and did Jesus homage, saying, “Lord, help me.”He said in reply,“It is not right to take the food of the childrenand throw it to the dogs.”She said, “Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scrapsthat fall from the table of their masters.”Then Jesus said to her in reply,“O woman, great is your faith!Let it be done for you as you wish.”And the woman’s daughter was healed from that hour.

COMMUNION ANTIPHONWith the Lord there is mercy;in him is plentiful redemption.

Psalm 130 (129):7

COMMUNION MEDITATION Gift of Finest Wheat

You satisfy the hungry heartWith gift of finest wheat;Come give to us, O saving Lord,The bread of life to eat.

As when the shepherd calls his sheep,They know and heed his voice; So when you call your fam’ly, Lord,We follow and rejoice.

You satisfy the hungry heartWith gift of finest wheat;Come give to us, O saving Lord,The bread of life to eat.

With joyful lips we sing to youOur praise and gratitude,That you should count us worthy, Lord,To share this heav’nly food.

You satisfy the hungry heartWith gift of finest wheat;Come give to us, O saving Lord,The bread of life to eat.

Is not the cup we bless and shareThe blood of Christ outpoured?

Do not one cup, one loaf, declareOur oneness in the Lord?

You satisfy the hungry heartWith gift of finest wheat;Come give to us, O saving Lord,The bread of life to eat.

The myst’ry of your presence, Lord,No mortal tongue can tell:Whom all the world cannot containComes in our hearts to dwell.

You satisfy the hungry heartWith gift of finest wheat;Come give to us, O saving Lord,The bread of life to eat.

You give yourself to us, O Lord; Then selfless let us be,To serve each other in your nameIn truth and charity.

You satisfy the hungry heartWith gift of finest wheat;Come give to us, O saving Lord,The bread of life to eat.

receive you sacramentally,Come at least spiritually into my heart.I embrace you as if you were already thereAnd unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNIONMade partakers of Christ through these Sacraments,we humbly implore your mercy, Lord, that, conformed to his image on earth,

we may merit also to be his coheirs in heaven.Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.

CLOSING HYMN

God, we praise you! God, we bless you!God, we name you sov’reign Lord!Mighty King whom angels worship,Father, by your church adored:All creation shows your glory,Heav’n and earth draw near your throne,Singing ‘Holy, holy, holy,Lord of hosts, and God alone!’

True apostles, faithful prophets,Saints who set their world ablaze,Martyrs, once unknown, unheeded,Join one growing song of praise,While your church on earth confesses One majestic Trinity:Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,God, our hope eternally.

Jesus Christ, the king of glory,Everlasting Son of God,Humble was your virgin mother,Hard the lonely path you trod:By your cross is sin defeated,Hell confronted face to face,Heaven opened to believers,Sinners justified by grace.

Christ, at God’s right hand victorious,You will judge the world you made;Lord, in mercy help your servantsFor whose freedom you have paid:Raise us up from dust to glory,Guard us from all sin today;King enthroned above all praises,Save your people, God, we pray.
