Copyright © J. S. Paluch

Information for Mission Appeal

The Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood (CPS) were founded in 1885 in Mariannhill, near Durban, South Afrca, by the Trappist, Abbot Francis Pfanner. Thomas Merton called him the greatest missionary of his time.

Today the Missionary Sisters of the Pre-cious Blood serve in 19 countries where the Sisters are engaged in a variety of ministries, including education at all levels, parish ministry, religious educa-tion, and retreat work. They are also in the medical, nursing, and allied health fields; they care for the elderly, mentally and physically challenged, street chil-dren and others in need.

In many countries, caring for those with AIDS is another important ministry.
