Dear Community,

Last evening (Monday) the Parents Association (PA) met for its first night meeting for 2015. I was pleased to see three additional parents attend who generally can’t make day meetings. We will keep you informed of future evening meetings with plenty of notice. The PA has a major role in the life of our school. Our 2015 Parents Association statement sums this role up:

FROM THE PRINCIPAL CONTINUED….

The Association plays a significant role in building the community spirit of the school. Its events and functions may provide opportunity for parents, families and staff to gather together in a spirit of fun and fellowship.

The PA meets every second Thursday. Please consider coming along even if only occasionally. There is a meeting this Thursday (26/02) at 9.00am in the staff room. Everyone is welcome.

On Monday of this week we announced our School Captains for 2015. Our 4 Captains were selected from 14 students, chosen by their peers and teachers after a rigorous round of presentations from a large number of students as to ‘Why I would make a good school captain?’

These 14 students went through to a final round in which school leaders and a number of staff made the final decision as to who would be School Captains. In the end, all the presentations were excellent, but we decided to choose a student from each class group.

Congratulations to all children in Year 6 who nominated. All of these children displayed real leadership qualities and as I say to all of the Year 6 students; they are all leaders!

And to our School Captains, we say Congratulations to;

Jessica Amarella 6 Blue

Monique Barbara 6 Red

Luke Highland 6 Green

Joshua Pascale 6 Yellow

Our school captains will now have a major role in supporting myself and all members of our school community in implementing our School Wide Positive Behaviour Framework;

Have a good week everybody.

CANTEEN

Our updated School Canteen Menu is attached. Please note we have placed the food into various categories. We’d ask you to make conscious decisions regarding the food you order for your children.

Also please ensure when ordering your child’s food for the day, not too order too much in one break. A small child cannot eat for instance, a hot dog, chips, and a donut and have a drink in 10 minutes! (And do they really need that much in one sitting?) All children eat inside or at the very least seated outside with their teacher, during the scheduled Eating Time and not on the yard.

Any food not eaten is sent home with the children so you as parents can see what is and is not eaten.

Thank you for your support.

Could all parents please note that the cut-off for ordering is 8.00am via the website (for orders that day). Please make sure that you update your child’s class for 2015. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CANTEEN

If you’d like to volunteer to work in the Canteen, please leave your name at the front office. We will then contact you about times and days, so we can prepare a roster.

Volunteering in the canteen is a practical way in which you can support your school and having enough volunteers is essential to ensure we can keep the canteen operating. TUESDAY’S CANTEEN SPECIAL-Hamburger with the lot. Beef Pattie, lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, tomato sauce and chips. Each Tuesday we will be having a special. Next week (3

rd Mar)

will be a Hamburger with the lot and chips for $5.00.
