A REFLECTION FROM FATHER GERARDO Brothers and sisters, today's First Reading from the Book of
Jeremiah, recalls an event that took place in the days of the Old Testa-ment. In those days, the Lord God had called the great prophet Jeremiah as His spokesman to warn the people of the coming judgment that awaited Israel because of the sins of the people. The unbelievers laughed at Jeremiah. They plotted against him so that they could silence him. Frustrated with the people who lived in sin, Jeremiah decided to keep quiet, to stop talking on behalf of the Lord God. The Lord implant-ed on the heart of Jeremiah the eternal dishonor that awaits all those who rejects the Lord. Jeremiah was burning with such an intense fire within his heart that he could no longer withhold the warnings of the Lord. He had to speak up on behalf of the Lord.
In today's Second Reading, the Letter of Paul to the Romans reminds us that by the grace of God the Father, we received a free gift through Jesus Christ. Through the sin of disobedience of one man, Ad-am, all his descendants were called to suffer eternal sentence. Man had lost his inheritance to the eternal Kingdom of God that was intended for a holy people. Since Adam no longer enjoyed the Presence of God, his descendants could not inherit this blessing. But, thanks to the righteous act of one Man, Jesus Christ, His perfect sacrifice as the Lamb of God, His suffering and death on the cross, many were made righteous before God.
In the today’s Gospel of Matthew he advises us not to fear men. Remember the words of Jeremiah; "The Lord is with you like a dread warrior. Your persecutors will stumble and they will not prevail. They will be greatly shamed for they will not succeed. Their eternal dishonor will not be forgotten." (Jer. 20:11)
We must never forget that by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we were made righteous in the eyes of God through faith and the Sacra-ments of Baptism. Through the Sacrament of Confession, our righteous-ness is maintained throughout our Christian life. When we walk our faith with Jesus, in Jesus and through Jesus, in the eyes of God, we are more valuable then two sparrows. Our only fear should be the fear of the Lord and the eternal dishonor that awaits those who turn away from the Lord.
My brothers and sisters, today's message is that Christ died for our righteousness so we may inherit the eternal Kingdom of Heaven. Since Christ suffered because of the truth, we should not expect to be treated better than He was. With Christ, we must persevere in our living faith for the glory of the Body of Christ that embraces all the baptized who live their Christian faith.

REFLEXIÓN DEL PADRE GERARDO Hermanos y hermanas, la primera lectura del libro de Jere-
mías de hoy, recuerda un evento que tuvo lugar en los días del Antiguo Testamento. En aquellos días, el Señor Dios había llamado al gran pro-feta Jeremías como su portavoz para advertir al pueblo del juicio veni-dero que esperaba a Israel a causa de los pecados del pueblo. Los incré-dulos se rieron de Jeremías. Conspiraron contra él para poder silenciar-lo. Frustrado con las personas que vivían en pecado, Jeremías decidió quedarse callado, dejar de hablar en nombre del Señor Dios. El Señor implantó en el corazón de Jeremías el eterno deshonor que espera a todos los que rechazan al Señor. Jeremías ardía con un fuego tan intenso dentro de su corazón que ya no podía retener las advertencias del Señor. Tenía que hablar en nombre del Señor.
En la Segunda Lectura de hoy, de la Carta de Pablo a los ro-manos nos recuerda que por la gracia de Dios el Padre, recibimos un regalo gratis a través de Jesucristo. A través del pecado de desobedien-cia de un hombre, Adán, todos sus descendientes fueron llamados a sufrir una sentencia eterna. El hombre había perdido su herencia en el Reino eterno de Dios que estaba destinado a un pueblo santo. Como Adán ya no disfrutaba de la Presencia de Dios, sus descendientes no podían heredar esta bendición. Pero, gracias al acto justo de un Hombre, Jesucristo, Su sacrificio perfecto como el Cordero de Dios, Su sufri-miento y muerte en la cruz, muchos fueron justificados ante Dios.
En el Evangelio de Mateo de hoy nos aconseja no temer a los hombres. Recuerda las palabras de Jeremías; "El Señor está contigo como un guerrero temible. Tus perseguidores tropezarán y no prevale-cerán. Serán muy avergonzados porque no tendrán éxito. Su deshonor eterno no será olvidado". (Jer. 20:11)
Nunca debemos olvidar que por el sacrificio de Jesucristo, fuimos hechos justos a los ojos de Dios a través de la fe y los sacramen-tos del bautismo. A través del Sacramento de la Confesión, nuestra jus-ticia se mantiene a lo largo de nuestra vida cristiana. Cuando camina-mos nuestra fe con Jesús, en Jesús y a través de Jesús, a los ojos de Dios, somos más valiosos que dos gorriones. Nuestro único temor debe-ría ser el temor del Señor y el deshonor eterno que espera a los que se apartan del Señor.
Mis hermanos y hermanas, el mensaje de hoy es que Cristo murió por nuestra justicia para que podamos heredar el eterno Reino de los Cielos. Como Cristo sufrió por la verdad, no debemos esperar que nos traten mejor de lo que lo fue. Con Cristo, debemos perseverar en nuestra fe viva para la gloria del Cuerpo de Cristo que abraza a todos los bautizados que viven su fe cristiana.

A MESSAGE FROM DEACON RICHARD It’s nearly the end of June and we are celebrated ordinary times the twelfth Sunday in ordinary times. Easter is over, Pen-tecost and the feast that follows have concluded. Now we enter the liturgical . We will read primarily from the Gospel of Mat-thew, cycle A, accompanying Jesus throughout the story grow-ing in our knowledge and awareness of him. Matthew has long been known as the church gospel we read the sermon on the mount, with its standard form of the Lord’s Prayer, Matthew tells us about the giving of the keys of the kingdom to Peter, and he uses the phrase upon this rock I will build my church, in fact the very term church appears in this gospel alone among the others with an emphasis see narrative resurrection narra-tive. Throughout the gospel Jesus sits makes it clear to his disci-ples that following him with an entail hardship and maybe even persecution and yet we have nothing to fear for the god of light holes us in the palm of his hand and he counts every hair on our head. Being a follower of Christ does not entail us to, comfort luxury, and safety, in fact sometimes it will lead us in the op. cit. direction. As we enter into this time of living and growing in Christ we are called to sync deeply into these two truths that discipleship will involve hardship and being deeply beloved of God.

MENSAJE DEL DIACONO RICHARD Es casi finales de junio y nos celebran los tiempos ordina-rios el duodécimo domingo en tiempos ordinarios. La Pascua ha terminado, Pentecostés y la fiesta que sigue han concluido. Ahora entramos en el litúrgico . Leeremos principalmente del Evangelio de Mateo, ciclo A, acompañando a Jesús a lo largo de la historia que crece en nuestro conocimiento y conciencia de él. Mateo ha sido conocido durante mucho tiempo como el evangelio de la iglesia que leemos el sermón en el monte, con su forma estándar de la oración del Señor, Mateo nos habla de la entrega de las llaves del reino a Pedro, y él utiliza la frase sobre esta roca que edificaré mi iglesia, de hecho el mismo término iglesia aparece en este evangelio solo entre los demás con un énfasis ver narrativa de la resurrección narrativa. A lo largo del Evangelio Jesús se sienta deja claro a sus discípulos que seguirlo con una dificultad de compromiso y tal vez incluso persecución y sin embargo no tenemos nada que temer por el dios de la luz nos deja en la palma de su mano y él cuenta cada pelo en nuestra cabeza. Ser seguidor de Cristo no nos implica,confortar el lujo y la seguridad, de hecho a veces nos guiará en la dirección operacional. Al entrar en este tiempo de vida y crecimiento en Cristo, estamos llamados a sincroni-zar profundamente en estas dos verdades que el discipulado implicará dificultades y ser profundamente amado por Dios.
