W elcome! You may have come as a stranger to us, yet you are known to
our Lord, Jesus Christ. In His name, we pray you will find peace, hospitality and friendship with us.
All peoples are invited to worship the Lord and to know his ways. God’s gifts and his call are to Jew and Gentile alike. Jesus recognizes the universality of God’s call in granting the request of the Canaanite woman.

The Christmas Shop Elves are looking for any and all gently or never used Christmas and Holiday decorations/odds-and-ends that you may be tired of for this year’s shop at the Fall Family Festival. Last year the shop was such a
success, the Elves are totally out of things to transform into stunning holiday treats for festival goers. Supplies also needed in the workshop are: donated ribbon, glue guns, glue sticks, and empty wicker or straw baskets. Items can be dropped off in the church lobby in the box labeled “Christmas Shop”, when you come to Mass on Saturday or Sunday; or, in the Parish Hall, when the elves are working there – Tuesday through Friday, 9am – 3pm. (except Aug. 14th).

St. Theresa Music Ministry - The Hymns We Sing “Praise to the Lord” by Joachim Neander The author of our entrance hymn wrote 60 poetic hymns in his short lifetime. The magnificent “Praise to the Lord” printed in at least 312 different sources, was probably the most well-known. Joachim was born in Bremen, Germany in 1650. His family name was originally Neumann (Newman), but was changed by Joachim's grandfather, who preferred the Greek version of Neander! Joachim was a student in Bremen in 1666, and biographers comment that (in keeping with student life at this time in Germany), he was pleasure seeking and wild. In 1670, a new pastor came to Bremen, and Joachim and two friends went to his service with the intention of being amused and critical. However, the pastor's earnest words touched his heart, and Joachim began to converse with him, which was a turning point in his life. In the following year he became a tutor to young men, and later a rector. This latter post was full of difficulties for Joachim, and he sought consolation within his spiritual life, and in his deeper communion with nature. Joachim suffered declining health, contracted tuberculosis, and died at age 30. “Praise to the Lord”, accurately translated into English by Catherine Wentworth in 1863, is based loosely upon Psalms 103 and 150. Praise the Lord. Praise God in His sanctuary, praise Him in His mighty heavens Ps. 150:1 Praise the Lord my soul, all my inmost being, praise His holy name Psalm 103:1 Even though his hymns were written at a time of considerable stress, most are full of praise and joy. Today, in this fine hymn, we sing, 'All that has life and breath, come now in praises adore Him!

PRAYER REQUESTS PLEASE PRAY for all those serving in the armed services and all who
are home-bound. For the physical and spiritual well-being of parishioners
and friends who are ill and recovering including:
Cantors needed We are pleased to be getting a good response for Cantors for masses starting in September. We are still looking for more cantors; ones who have cantored before at St. Theresa's or in other church communities, or people who have no experience but would like to be considered. It is a very important part of the liturgy to announce the Word of God in the Psalm and in the Alleluia which prepares for the reading of the Gospel. We are having try outs on Tuesdays for the next three weeks, August 4, 11 and 18 from 5:30-7:30 in the church. If you would like to try out, please contact Cormac O’Duffy at [email protected] to book a time. We'd love to hear from you ....and to hear you!!!
Attention! All bazooka players, tin whistlers, bagpipes, accordion players, nose flutes, bass trombone players, uilleann pipers, triangle players! There may be a place for you in our
music ministry! We are looking for instrumentalists of all types - even instruments as normal as the violin or flute! We are so pleased to have John on his banjo and ukelele, joining acoustic guitar, spanish guitar piano and organ! The scripture says: Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Come and join us as we make merry unto the Lord! Make yourself known at Mass or contact us at [email protected]!
