Saint Jude School Weekly Memo - Volume 22, issue 17 December 14, 2018 At our Christmas concert, the children were amazing, teachers outstanding and parents - proud! Peace friends, peace! We thank God for allowing us the opportunity to walk this Advent season with such beautiful children and families. The Pajama Drive was a SUCCESS! Thank you parents for your generous Pajama donations. Together we brought in around 400 pajamas! That's 400 less fortunate children who will be smiling bright this Christmas, thanks to you! #beingthehandsandfeetofJesus A reminder to all Middle School students and parents that Mid Term exams will take place next week. All students have been guided regarding the content of the exams and all teachers have worked with the students during class on review items. Please take time over the weekend reviewing. All students were given an exam schedule. Bells will ringing and children’s voices will be singing next Thursday when Kindergarten and Preschool students delight their families by performing in their annual Christmas Tea! This beautiful presentation is full of Christmas magic!! Some cute elves showed up disguised as 5th and 1st graders for the Christmas concert and they sang beautifully! Both classes dressed up as elves and had a merry time making reindeer cupcakes, filling out “Elf” applications and making Christmas tree ornaments! Thank you to all who helped to make their day so special! On Pajama Day, the 5th graders also had a special treat of watching a Christmas movie! Great job!! “Run, run, as fast as you can…. You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!” This week in Kindergarten, students reviewed story elements while reading some of their favorite gingerbread tales including: The Gingerbread Man, Gingerbread Girl, and Gingerbread Baby! Students discussed the characters, setting, problem, and solution to the stories. Each tale is unique and has a different ending! Ask your son/ daughter to share their favorite story with you. Saint Jude priests, administrators and teachers joined at this year’s Lumen Christi in the celebration for Mrs. Sprague for her nineteen years of service at Saint Jude Catholic School. Thank you Mrs. Sprague for sharing your LIGHT with us! 3A is super pumped to announce that our ravenous reader Rileigh Brown has joined the 1,000,000 words read club! Way to go Rileigh! The 5A class would like to congratulate Gabriel Sader and Alessia Biondi on being the class winner and runner-up for the Geography Bee. All the students did a great job! The National Junior Honor Society collected, folded and bagged ten huge bags full of pajamas for the less fortunate yesterday. THANK YOU FOURTH GRADE FOR HELPING WITH THIS ADVENT SERVICE. All social studies students have been preparing hard for their upcoming midterms on December 18th. This week, our 8th grade students had Mrs. Guzman Jedlicka come in and present the Unreal Campaign which talks about the dangers of buying counterfeit goods. From the Media Center: No Books will be checked out until school resumes in January. You can visit the Boca Raton Public Library to check their book selection and check out a book or two. Whatever you do make time to read at least 20 mins daily. We are now accepting applications for the Kindergarten class of 2019- 2020. Any child entering Kindergarten next August must be five years old by September 1, 2019. If you know of anyone interested in having a school tour, please have them call the Admissions Office. Step Up for Students is accepting applications for renewal families for the 2019-2020 school year! Renewal families will have processing priority until Jan. 31, 2019. If a renewal family applies on or after Feb. 1, 2019, they will lose their priority status over new applications. To begin an application, please go to www.stepupforstudents.org and log in with your existing account. Please note: Parents with siblings to add for next year in K or other grades can do an add-on at this time and their incoming child will be given preference for 2019-2020. At our Christmas concert, the children were amazing, teachers outstanding and parents - proud! Peace friends, peace! We thank God for allowing us the opportunity to walk this Advent season with such beautiful children and families.

Shopping Venture with Miss A!

So much fun! A great time was had by all at the Town

Center Mall today! Miss A. spent time with

our special reindeers Jadyn, Kaitlyn and

Margaux. They had such a wonderful time!

After their shopping venture, they had a

beautiful lunch at California Pizza Kitchen.
