You, who wish to perform the Four Mandala Ritual of Tara, should prepare in the centre of a clean room a tiered and properly covered shrine, upon which an image of Jetsun Tara is present. Place in front of the image four Mandalas, each with seven mounds of rice. If you do not have four mandalas, use a single mandala in four repeated offerings. Arrange four tormas on the shrine (or even a single torma), along with four bowls of water, four unlit incense offerings, four lit lamps, and four food offerings. Alternatively, you may simply make additions to single offerings of each item where the ritual requires. Rinse your mouth and then be seated comfortably while performing the puja.

This Practice of the Four Mandala Ritual of Tara, in accordance with the instructions given by Rapjam Mawa Pema Chöpel, in order to be easily understood, was abridged from the writings of Jetsun Chenpo Drakpa Gyaltsen and written by the Shakya Reverend Morchen Kunga Hlundrup at the hermitage of Mor Monastery.

His Holiness Jigdal Dagchen Sakya compiled this Tara practice using a version make by Sakya Tsechen Thubten Ling in Vancouver, Canada, that was re-translated by Katherine Pfaff, a version produced in Taiwan, and adding prayers to Mahakala and Maksorma. Jeffrey Schoening typed the Tibetan and Tibetan pronunciation, Ane Palmo typed the English translation, which Jeffrey Schoening edited and partly re-translated, and Eric Dulberg proofread the entire text. The translation of the twenty-one praises had been edited by comparing the Sanskrit text and Alex Wayman's translation with the Tibetan text and Stephen Beyer's translation, and finally by consulting Jetsun Drakpa Gyaltsen's Explanation of the Praise, Light Rays of Illumination. His Holiness ornamented the text.
