History, extensive Sporting Memorabilia and Military Badges, we return here to our General

Auction with some interesting ranges – Militaria (including a range of Swords & Bayonets),

Coins, Banknotes, Toys and Bygones.

I hope you will find some of interest – we are currently planning our 2020 Auction and Fairs

and hope to see many of you in the New Year.

Fairs We are renewing efforts and have items available for viewing as our monthly Fairs in

Stowmarket and Diss.

We are also prepared to accept consignments at these fairs.

10 Victorian 1845 Infantry Officer’s Sword, regulation gilt hilt

with VR and crown to centre. Fish skin grip bound with

gilt wire. The scabbard is lightly rusted however the sword

and blade are in excellent condition. Scarce

12 Imperial Württemberg M89 Cavalry Dragoon Officers

Sword, 25. D. 3, 83 etched on the hilt and scabbard and

made by: Weyersberg Kirshbaum & Cie, Solingen.

Scabbard appears to have been hit by a projectile. A

fantastic sword. Needs tlc.

13 Indian Sword Stick, a lovely ebonised wood body, bone

handle with a floral design and brass Lion's head on the

top. An excellent 19th century sword cane.

14 Armenian 19th Century Dashuyn Dagger, a beautiful

weapon with a green handle and gold relief on the blade

and sheath. Sheath needs some restoration.

15 Chinese Dao 19th to early 20th century two handed

weapon. Use by Chinese warriors, probably used all the

way through the Boxer Rebellion period and was likely

used by skilled swordsmen against cavalry troops, well

stamped on the blade, handle needs attention.

number: e 80474, in fair condition.

Organisation card, The National Combatants and Veterans

Association, in the acronym ANCR, is a moral institution

under private law, which associates veterans of the first

and second world wars. For service in the 1915-1918

Campaign, No. 532115

45 British WWI Censor Post Card, unused Field Service

Postcard A.F.A. 2042, 114/Gen. No./5248. These postcards

were given to injured soldiers and then checked by the

censor. Some rust stains.

46 British 18th Century Ship Wreckage souvenir, a copper

tack from the bottom of the Royal George that sun 29th

August 1782, She sank undergoing routine maintenance

work whilst anchored off Portsmouth on 29 August 1782

with the loss of more than 800 lives, one of the most serious

maritime losses to occur in British waters.

Several attempts were made to raise the vessel, both for

salvage and because she was a major hazard to navigation.

In 1782, Charles Spalding recovered six iron 12-pounder

guns and nine brass 12-pounders using a diving bell of his

design. An interesting little item.

48 H.M.S. Douglas WWII Cap Tally, H.M.S. Douglas was an

Admiralty type flotilla leader (also known as the Scott-

class) of the British Royal Navy. Built by Cammell Laird,

Douglas commissioned in 1918, just before the end of the

First World War. During the Second World War, Douglas

served with Force H out of Gibraltar and as a convoy

escort. She was sold for scrap in March 1945.

49 HMS Daedalus Sailors Cap Tally, HMS Daedalus was

a naval air station, also known as RNAS Lee-on-Solent.

The base was opened in 1917 and transferred to the RAF in

1918. It was returned to the successor of the Royal Naval

Air Service, the Fleet Air Arm, in 1939. It and various out-

stations bore the name HMS Daedalus between 1957 and

1996.

51 H.M.S. Birmingham WWII Royal Navy Cap Tally,

H.M.S. Birmingham was a member of the first group of

five ships of the Town class of light cruisers. She was built

at Devonport Dockyard (Plymouth, United Kingdom), and

launched on 1 September 1936.

52 H.M.S. Malaya WWII Cap Tally with original WWII

Newspaper cutting and two postcards showing the ship on

patrol at Dover and H.M.S. Malaya and Warspite with

guns trained for action. H.M.S. Malaya was a Royal

Navy Queen Elizabeth-class battleship ordered in 1913

and commissioned in 1916. Shortly after commissioning she

fought in the Battle of Jutland as part of the Grand Fleet.

Other than that battle, and the inconclusive Action of 19

August, her service during the First World War mostly

consisted of routine patrols and training in the North Sea

and in WWII was convoy support for ships in the North

Sea.

53 H.M.S. Intrepid WWII Sailors Cap Tally with a sheet

showing original photographs of H.M.S. Hero and H.M.S.

Auckland and the Intrepid. H.M.S. Intrepid (D10) was one

of nine I-class destroyers built for the Royal Navy during

the 1930's,

54 H.M.S. Hood H.M.S. Hood WWII Sailors Cap Tally with a

sheet showing original photographs of H.M.S. Hood and

newspaper clippings. (pennant number 51) was the

last battle cruiser built for the Royal Navy. Commissioned

in 1920, she was named after the 18th-century

Admiral Samuel Hood. On 24 May 1941, early in the

Battle of the Denmark Strait, Hood was struck by several

German shells, exploded, and sank within 3 minutes, with

the loss of all but three of her crew. Due to her perceived

invincibility, the loss affected British morale.

55 H.M.S. Barham WWII Sailors Cap Tally with a sheet

showing original photographs of H.M.S. Barham at sea.

H.M.S. Barham was a Queen Elizabeth-class

battleship built for the Royal Navy during the early 1910s.

Often used as a flagship, she participated in the Battle of

Jutland during the First World War as part of the Grand

Fleet. Barham was sunk off the Egyptian coast in

November 1941 by the German submarine U-331 with the

loss of 862 crewmen, approximately two-thirds of her crew.

56 H.M.S. Warspite WWII Sailors Tally and original

photographs and postcard of H.M.S. Warspite and H.M.S.

Malaya at speed. H.M.S. Warspite was a Queen Elizabeth-

class battleship built for the Royal Navy during the early

1910s. Completed during the First World War in 1915, she

was assigned to the Grand Fleet and participated in the

Battle of Jutland. Other than that battle, and the

inconclusive Action of 19 August, her service during the

war generally consisted of routine patrols and training in

the North Sea. Decommissioned in 1945, Warspite ran

aground under tow in 1947 on rocks near Prussia Cove,

Cornwall, and was eventually broken up nearby.

preserved with letter of identification by the Norfolk

showing a large circular stamp of a rose, Roman Slegeware

and a Cast Borre - Style disc brooch, common of the type

found around East Anglia and a mixed group of metal

brooch (folded wing ends type), an incomplete lock bolt,

Lozengiform horse harness pendant and a tip of a

spearhead. -A.F. Turner Ltd Brass plaque, Wellington

this works produced. An excellent clean example.
