COMPANY INFO

Salon Teknopaja Oy is located in Salo, Finland. It design, manufacture and set up tester devices.

Main product is PWB Level Drop Tester. They are equipped with special measurement devices and softwares which are driven by one user interface. Most customers are electronic industry companies over the world.

Salon Teknopaja Oy makes also different test mechanics and jigs with test needle and probe contacts, Free Fall Testers, Push and Pull Cycle Tester for power supplies, Cable Bending Tester etc.

Drop Tester determines reliability of the PWC (Printed Wiring Board) level against mechanical shock

Using the Drop Tester

Calibration of the drop tester Before the test cycles, the tester is

calibrated to meet the requirements of chosen test method. The calibration is done using the acceleration sensor and PC oscilloscope. Oscilloscope is using acceleration sensor to measure the shock. During the calibration normally three parameters are being observed: peak acceleration, pulse duration and pulse shape.

Using the Drop Tester

Calibration of the drop tester These can be monitored in the PC

oscilloscope user interface and the results are also logged in a data file for further analysis. The analysis is done using specific data processing software delivered with the drop tester and the PC oscilloscope (Drop Converter Software).

The specifications for measured parameters are dependant on the used testing method

● Rdut=500Ω Imeas=1mA

Uthres=1V

● Uthres / Imeas = Rthres 1.0V / 1.0mA

= 1kΩ

● If Rdut is 500Ω during testing Uin is

0.5V (1mA*0.5kΩ). Because

Uthres(1V)> Uin (0.5V)

no break is detected.

● If Rdut suddenly raises >1kΩ and

because current is constant, Uin > Uthres.

This will be interpreted as break.

What is Clamp Voltage?

-The Clamp Voltage is kind of ”emergency stop” for voltage rise. Itlimits specimen’s voltage to it’s value and stops testing.

What is optimal cable lenght?

-Optimal cable lenght is 2 meters. Over 2.5 metrer cable is notrecommended.

What is Event’s Duration sensitivity?

-Minium detectable break is 0,6 µs (HIGH). Other availablesettings are 1.5 µs (MEDIUM) and 3 µs (LOW).

-Event Detector is not oscillosscope, sampling rate is 1/drop. Hardware is ”armed” to detect breaks. If break occur during drop, it will be stored to Event’s memory. After strike data will be stored to log file and shown on user interface. Next Event measures ”steady state” to track broken cables. Then it is ready for another drop.

Drop tester service and maintenance• Drop tester is to be maintained and repaired only by a professional

staff, which have read and understood the User and service guide• The maintenance should be done periodically and all actions must

be recorded in a service diary. Use of a check list of actions is recommended

• Every me before starting to operate the drop tester, check all the functionality of the safety devices. Please also check that there are no obstacles to harm the movement of the sledge or the carrier

• If you must temporarily remove any safety devices or shields, be sure to place them back after maintenance or repair work

• Use only spare parts delivered or approved by the device manufacturer (Salon Teknopaja)

Drop tester service and maintenanceMaintenance tasks

• Every time when the tester is used• check that the drop base is clean• clean the machine from the dust and excess stuff. Avoid touching slides when cleaning• perform visual inspection over the tester

• Monthly actions Check the tightness of the screws. Check the tightness of the engine’s tooth belt. Check the tightness of screws in the shaft coupling and the motor. Check all the other parts and replace broken and old parts. Clean the machine.
