The Salvation Army The Salvation Army is a fellowship of people who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord, and whose common aim and purpose is to introduce and lead others to know and receive Jesus Christ by faith and to encourage them to subject themselves to His Lordship by living a spiritually clean and honest life. MISSION STATEMENT

The Salvation Army, an International Movement, is an evangelical part of the Universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Holy Bible. Its ministry is motivated by love for God. Its mission is twofold: (1) To preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and (2) To meet human needs in Christ’s name without discrimination.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COMMUNITY TO BE SERVED

Salvation Army – Raymond Parks & Gann’s | 4

The Salvation Army started its work in Belize (British Honduras) in 1915 by a Barbadian Salvation Army Officer, Adjutant Joseph Trotman and his wife. By September of that year the Adjutant had recorded some 200 seekers (converts) and had made 50 Senior Recruits (members) and 60 Juniors. Many prominent people gave support to the then young Movement. Because of the crowd that would attend meetings, and not having a building, one property owner gave the use of his 800 seat theatre, (The Palace Theatre, now Mikado’s Textile Palace), to the Army to keep meetings, but even this was too small for the massive crowd that would attend. Since the Army’s inception, many Salvationists have come and gone, but the work of God continues and we believe it must go on as we seek to serve each generation until Jesus returns. It is said that “Where there is need, there is The Salvation Army.” Like many places around the world, the Army in Belize continues to minister “With Heart to God, and Hand to man.”
